Trying to Get Pregnant

Apparently I am a lush...

I have had 3 people ask me to get drinks this week!

We aren't sharing that we are trying, so I ever so lamely explain I am "drying out". Really though, where were all these fun people when I wanted people to go out with!? I don't drink often so the timing couldn't be funnier.

  • I'm a worrier (I'm super good at it). While we are trying to figure out exactly what's going on I figured I would be a good girl and not drink. We will see how long that last though LOL

It just cracks me up. My husband works mostly nights, I am constantly annoying people to go out with me, and now they are crawling out of the woodwork

I don't understand why you feel you can't drink when you're not even pregnant. What if it takes you a year? You're just not going to have a single drink for the next year for no reason at all?
  • bibliothecary  did I drive you to drink LOL?

I know people hang out in both camps (drink till it's pink, and sober till it's over) right now I'm more comfortable being dry.

  • Best quote of the day"This makes the obvious choice obvious. Because poetry. And beer."

  • Drink till it's pink. In fact, I think I'll have a vodka tonic now.

Vodka tonic sounds great right now. I have tonic...& lime, but no vodka or gin. I'll pick some up this weekend! Until then, enjoy it for me!

  • Are you even in the 2WW OP?
  • @janda426 possibly on the 2WW, we are having a hard time telling when/if I'm ovulating, even with using the OPK. I'm working with my Dr. on it.

Ditto Darcy. There's no reason to see a doctor until you've given temping a good try.
  • Drink up and don't waste the nights of fun before having to find a baby-sitter. Go out with friends, you will need to save those excuses the first couple of months when you are KTFU and can't drink.

  • If you don't want to drink, don't drink!  It's a personal choice!  But if you were all gungho on it before, and you suddenly stop, your friends will definitely start thinking you're KU!  We went out one night after I'd had too much to drink a couple nights before, so I didn't have anything but water, and my friends picked up on it right away, like nosy hawks!  Luckily I've been back to drinking all the wine and mojitos since then, so nobody has bugged me about it any more. ;-)

If you don't want to drink, then don't.  That's perfectly reasonable.  There are lots of reasons to cut out alcohol.  But, I will echo everyone else and say you don't HAVE to stop drinking when TTC.  If you want to go out for a drink with a friend, then do it.  Putting your life on hold while TTC will slowly drive you crazy.
I second this, but I would say "quickly".  I was going nuts by the end of my third cycle last time.  This time I know I'll do better if I relax and just live my life with the slight adjustment of hoping for the second line when my period is late, instead of hoping for one.

(ETA: And, well, not using BC, of course.)

@sister13 February was my last set of pills. I wasn't having a period until I went to the Dr. (in May) and she gave me meds that started it. This happened last time I went off the pill, I went 6 months no period before seeing the Dr. and ended up back on the pill as my husband was coming home from overseas.
We aren't sure if the meds were enough to reset my cycles or not. It's kinda a shot in the dark at this point as to ovulation as well, so I'm being very cautious. My Dr. and I are both kinda going with the flow and not trying to overreact or push through anything without giving my body a chance to figure itself out.

I still say you should temp. Then you don't have to go with the flow and know exactly what's going on.
  • Have some fun!!! You wont be able to just go out for am impromptu drink once a baby comes so enjoy youself now!
