My nutritionist told me to take dha prenatal nordic naturals. Any one else taking it? I was taking cod liver oil before but she said this is much better. Any feedback?
My doctor told me to either make sure my prenatal had DHA in it or add a supplement. Since mine didn't have DHA, I bought a bottle of DHA vitamins. They are HUGE but I'm fine with them. I don't think you need a prenatal without and a prenatal with though (not sure if that's what you were implying??)
Oh I don't take the brand you mentioned though. I can look and see what the are. They are really small but I keep them in the fridge which I think makes them easier to swallow.
I've been taking one too. It's an omega 3/DHA prenatal supplement. I had tried to find some research on the positive reasons to take it but I didn't find much. Anyone else find anything? I know it's good for brain development, but I wanted some more specific info.
An another note, I think the fish oil is the reason my hair looks fantastic.
Thanks all for positive feedback. My prenatal is just one pill but according to the nutritionist its not enough so im starting today. They are little pills. 2 a day. Thanks again!!!
OP, that's what my midwife suggested too. I looked online and saw they had a strawberry flavor! She also recommended Garden of Life prenatals, because they're derived from raw whole foods. Sounds great. A little pricey though.
I take Nordic Naturals Prenatal DHA, very happy with it. Been taking since 2010. (Started before TTC DS, and have continued since then, through pregnancy & breastfeeding.)
Nordic Naturals is a reputable company, and the DHA supplement is from small fish and is molecularly distilled, so the chance of mercury is virtually none.

Ditto this. Nordic Naturals is an awesome company as far as high quality and product safety.
I tried some of the prescription DHA and prenatal+DHA from my OB's office, but I hated them. I'm currently taking my reguar prenatals and a DHA supplement from Target. I'm a big fan. They're small gelcaps that are easy to take.
I take Nordic Naturals Prenatal DHA because my prenatal (Thorne Basic Prenatal) doesn't have it in there. DHA apparently helps with brain development among other things I believe.
I was but they caused me to throw up in the first tri so I haven't really wanted to look at them since! Guess now that the nausea/vomiting has ceased I should give them another go.
Re: DHA prenatal- in addition to regular prenatals
My prenatals are 2 pills per day, one is DHA.
