TTC after 35

Re-intro (living child/loss mentioned)

Good morning ladies-

I chatted some with you ladies last year. Just turned 36 on Monday and I have a 2.5 yo daughter and have now been through 2 back to back second trimester losses (20 weeks and 15 weeks).  My testing was clear on the first loss and we were unable to do chromosomal testing on the loss, however, we'd done the Panorama genetic testing before the loss, so we know the traditional chromosomal testing was clear and we were having a baby boy. The first loss was ruled a cord accident. I waited the 3 months recommended  by my OB and we got pregnant again. Had the Panorama test done again and everything was fine and we were having a baby girl.  A week later, we found no heartbeat. I delivered a week and a half ago, so we're waiting on any testing results to come back.

Since this is my second 2nd tri loss, my OB wants DH and I to have chromosomal testing done- since we've had one successful pregnancy and seem to have no issues getting pregnant- she feels it might be due to a chromosomal translocation.  We are on the bench for a few months as we try to figure some of this out.

I'm honestly having a bit of a tough time figuring out where I belong.  I've been posting on TTCAL and the Loss board but I'm a little lost beyond that.  I don't have an official IF diagnosis yet (though it sounds like that may be coming with the chromosomal testing and lead us to IVF) but my issue also doesn't seem to be getting pregnant, just staying that way.  Anyways- hoping to keep myself sane over the next few months as we learn more about what our future holds.  Look forward to chatting with you ladies :)

BFP #1- 4/2011; DD Brynn born 12/2011

BFP #2- 7/13; EDD- 4/2/14; Lost DS at 20 weeks (11/16/13) due to cord accident

To my angels- I held you every second of your lives and I'll love you every second of mine.

Re: Re-intro (living child/loss mentioned)

  • I am so sorry for your losses. I had two m/cs, but they were much earlier, so I can't imagine how hard that was for you. I didn't really know where I belonged either among all the boards, but what's so great about this board (other than the amazing people) is that it's a good mix of all the other boards since many women here (unfortunately) have experienced losses, and/or struggle with IF, and understand the additional challenges of being 35+. Some are currently on the bench for various reasons, others actively in the process. It's really one-stop-shopping (and super supportive!). I hope you find comfort and support here.

  • I am so very sorry for your losses.
You are welcome here in our group. Like pp said we are a mix of everything but without the drama other boards sometimes have.
It good that while you are benched you should try and figure out why you are having these late losses. Two in a row seems like more than coincidence.
If you do end up doing IVF with genetic testing we have several lovely ladies going through the same so you will have plenty of support.

I hope you find our board supportive and a little fun too.

  • So very sorry for your losses.  How heartbreaking.  If the testing reveals a genetic issue with you and/or your husband and you decide to pursue IVF with PGD (preimplantation genetic diagnosis where you can test the embryos before implanting) feel free to send me a PM about any questions.  My husband and I were unknowlingly carriers of a rare but potentially deadly genetic disease, and I am having a frozen embryo transfer next week.  We have no fertility issues (I get pregnant very easily and have a daughter who has the disease and a son who does not), but decided to go this route to avoid passing along the disorder to another child.  Best of luck to you, and again, I'm so sorry for your losses.

  • I am so sorry for your losses. Like tlc35 I bounce between this board and TTCAL. I have been on the other board a bit longer and both boards provide me with support and friendship. The boards do have different "personalities" if you will, but there is nothing to say you have to pick just one. Welcome.
