Reflux

My 4 week old dd has reflux so we started her on zantac monday evening. So far she has had 4 doses but is still crying almost the whole day. I called the pediatrician yesterday and he said it could take 1 week to fully help. Anyone else dealing with this? Im going to lose my mind!

Re: Reflux

  • DS2 was on zantac for 2 weeks with no improvement so we switched to Prevacid. He's been on prevacid for 4 days now and last night was the first time he didnt cry all night. Our pedi did say it could take zantac a week to work as well. I hope it starts helping soon and if not maybe ask the pedi to switch to prevacid.

  • We just started her on kirkland formula on monday also. Did you have your babies on a certain formula for reflux? Im afraid we are preventing the reflux from getting better with this formula. I know we probably shouldn't switch so soon though, right?
  • My guy is on Zantac and has been for almost 2 weeks. It took about 4 days to work. I did notice that if we're not on time with it we have a very crappy 24 hours following.

He still gets fussy from gas so we also use the gas drops often. If your LO isn't improving within the week definitely follow up and see about changing meds.

Once you get the meds right/they start working it will get soooo much better. Hang in there reflux sucks!
  • Thank you! It makes me feel better knowing it could take a few days to work. She has an appointment next Tuesday so if she is still having issues, I will definately bring it up then.
  • For those of you keeping baby up for 30 min after feedings, how do you do this at night? I seem to fall asleep holding DD up after feedings and wonder if anyone has other suggestions. Does anyone use a wedge pillow?
