TTC after 35

PMS Hunger!

About 6-7 days before my period arrives, I get SUPER hungry. Like...this girl usually eats everything and anything healthy, and all I want is a large sub, a large pizza to myself, a plate of lasagna, or a heaping bowl of ice cream.
I have this wedding dress to fit into in only 11 weeks, so I need to try to control myself, but it isn't easy.
Being a woman sucks sometimes!

Re: PMS Hunger!

  • Beautiful! I was worried about fitting in my dress right before my wedding, but remember, if needed, Spanx is a wonderful thing!
    Me: 41, DH: 42, married 2009

Love the splash of color! I get the PMS munchies and also gained a few pounds before the wedding. The beauty of being post-35 was that I just refused to get upset. Lost the weight in the weeks following, without really trying (although I did do a *lot* of walking and lifting).

On the PMS hunger, I find that if I can do all my carb binging before 6pm and then stick to lean protein and bright veggies (i.e. no potatoes!), I don't do too much damage. *off to have another almond butter, peach jam and sea salt sandwich*
    O:-)
  • @gabbagal- Spanx may very well be my lifesaver. This dress is very form-fitting, and the way I have been craving food (and will probably induldge a few times), I need to suck in the gut! Haha!
  • I get the munchies the week of my period. And never for healthy stuff, either. Spanx are great. But I would also maybe indulge but watch the portions? I did that during my first pregnancy-- a small or medium steak and cheese instead of a large, kind of thing. And I actually lost weight! LOL

Good luck-- the dress is beautiful on you. I hope you'll share photos after the day!

@danielandwayne - Thank you :) I will definitely share photos.
Smart idea! I may just indulge in small portions as you suggested. I am craving lasagna today. I might get some from Olive Garden and only eat half and give the rest to my fiance'. He can get fat right along with me. ;)

  • I get super hungry a week before, then lose my appetite a day or two before. I try to have just a little of something - a slider instead of a big juicy cheeseburger, a few jellybeans instead of the whole bag, etc.
Me: 38 DH: 40 TTC#1 (and likely only) since 9/13. Saw RE 5/14, SA good, AMH 2.36, FSH 7.2, estradiol 69.6 indicating good egg reserve. Using OPKs. First Letrozole cycle 6/14, a burst cyst and a BFN. Second Letrozole cycle 7/14, BFN.

Update 11/14 - had laparoscopy 10/28, good news is that my uterus and left tube look good, and they were able to drain the cyst on my left ovary. Bad news is that right tube and ovary have endo and scar tissue, so they're pretty useless.. Best news is that we finally have some answers and a path forward. Taking 7.5 mg letrozole CD 2-6 to put that good left ovary through its paces.

UPDATE 2/2015 - We switched to another fertility clinic, but fortunately we don't have to start all over. We're doing two cycles of Clomid plus IUI, if neither of those take, we'll do IVF in April, potentially with ICSI. (DH's SA has gone downhill, likely due to excessive exercise.) IUI#1 2/25/15....
  • @austrogermokee - Mmmmm...sliders. I LOVE White Castle!

  • @tlc35 - Thank you! And honestly...I may or may not eat like shit tonight. Again..all I want is lasagna or pizza. I think I need to give in this once.  :@)
  • @lgsdesigner - I LOOOOVE the Olive Garden! They're grilled chicken flatbread is my fave and low in calories compared to their other dishes. Also .. can't go wrong with their yummy salad and breadsticks!
Your dress is beautiful! 11 weeks will be here before you know it! ;)

  • I love your dress and the blue sash!

I don't think I get more hungry, but I certainly get flash chocolate cravings. I have to stop everything and buy a slice of chocolate cake from the grocery deli. That's how I knew that I was out last month before my BFN. [-(

  • @TAT2MAMI - Me too! Olive Garden is amazing! I think I may drag my fiance' out there tonight for a date since they just built one by our house.
And thank you for the compliment on the dress! I tried on a total of 10 dresses, and when I put this one on both my mother and my MOH cried. That's when I knew it was it. :)

@URMySunshine77 - Thank you! The sash is one of my favorite parts. I love a splash of color!
Chocolate...oooo chocolate. I am a dark chocolate craver. I love the dark chocolate covered almonds by Dove.
  • Beautiful dress! Your going to make a beautiful bride!!
