Baby Projects (Crochet and Otherwise!)

Hey guys. I promised I'd try to remember to post something once a week or every other week. Then I feel off of the planet, but I did round up a few photos of some of the things I've finished lately.

Share your stuff, and if you have it, link to patterns!

First, we're Virginia Tech ticketholders, and my husband is an alumni, so. Had to do it. I got the pattern for the hat here, but it says "permission to sell," so I sort of wouldn't feel bad if anyone wanted me to share the pattern with them. I wasn't going to, since I'm an etsy seller, and I wouldn't appreciate someone buying something and then posting it all over, but "permission to sell" makes me pause, and I'll PM it to you, not broadcast it.

image

Here's the butt of the bottoms. I just sort of made up the feathers, and I got the pattern for the diaper cover here, although it was really easy and I'm sure there are free ones out there.

image

I forget which pattern I used for this hat, but it's just a simple double crochet hat pattern that I found SOMEWHERE for free and did not save, because I'm not useful, and then I just did pom-poms and sewed them to each side.

image

Same pattern as above, and I googled crochet flowers. Again, not helpful for you.

image

Same as above, and just made up some ears.

image

This one was shared by someone on the board, and I'm too lazy while I'm writing this to find her (but I might after I'm done with the thing). If it was you, share it again, and say hi!

image

I used this pattern here (and look me up on Ravelry if you have one!) for the below dress and googled flowers (not helpful).

image

And same pattern, I just googled rose this time (not helpful) and added a row of slip stitches to make a "belt."

image

And I used this pattern here for the below and added a ribbon. The yarn is sparkly gray, but you kinda can't tell.

image

I have a few other things I did, but I didn't have pictures of them, and eh. More hats.

Share your stuff! Doesn't matter if it was a painting, crochet, knitting, whatever.

Those are all adorable!! I haven't crocheted anything in years but I plan on making a couple hats if I can manage it. I also plan on painting a few wall decorations, just holding off until I confirm LO's gender for sure.

  • I just bought some yarn and am making a cowl for my first project. If all goes well, I'll make some baby hats.
  • Holy crap @Justabean3, can you make me one of those in an adult size?  I'm in love with that sweater.  Nice work!

  • @sngsoprano1‌ I JUST put the sewing machine away today (it's been our for forever trying to finish up a quilt for my grandmother and I finished it this morning!), but after seeing such an adorable baby quilt in progress, I want to take it back out NOW and run to Jo-Ann's. Somebody stop me! :-t

I can not condone stopping crafty behavior!! I fully support your run to Jo-ann's
  • All I have done so far is a curtains and I started a quilt. The blue will be the middle. I plan to make a crib skirt too. If I was having a girl I am sure I would be sewing clothes but I am a little lost on boy clothes.
    I love those colors.

I was very tempted to make my own crib skirt. I hate all the matchy-matchy animal bedding everywhere. Can I just get some polka dots? I found little orange cat material (so obviously I loved it), and thought about it. I'm still not done thinking about it, but I found a white ruffled crib skirt and some sheets that are polka dots. So. They are my back-up.

  • @Emerald27‌ that quilt pattern is super easy. That only took me a few hours to cut and construct. I just have to finish sewing the other pieces together. My sister made a really fancy needle point blanket for the baby that I am sure took MUCH more time!

What's your plan for the back/edges of the quilt? It looks pretty easy...and I'm all about easy. ;) My MIL is crocheting a blanket for LO, and I was thinking I wouldn't make anything for him so that she doesn't feel unappreciated...but that looks FUN! And what if his blanket from grandma is in the wash? ;)

I did a whole chevron pattern for someone else this way with 10 inch blocks cut diagonal, loved it!

I'm working on a blanket for my little guy.  It's still in progress, but I'm pretty happy with it so far!  In case you can't tell, the colours are grey, teal, and orange.  Those are the colours we are doing in the nursery.  Grey walls with teal accent wall, and orange accents througout the room.

  • Man you guys this stuff is amazing.  I still have not made progress on either of the quilts for the twins because I have to order all the fabric online. They don't carry Holly Hobbie at Joanns any more :( and DH wants Justice League for Nathaniel.

Do it!!  My grandma taught me when I was 16, by the time I graduated high school I hadn't touched yarn or a crochet hook in a year.  Now almost 17 years later, I'm just picking it up again.  I practiced for a week or so making washcloths, and now I'm working on my blanket.  It's actually not that difficult unless you want it to be.  I looked up some beginner videos on youtube, went to Michaels and spent 20$ total on crochet hooks (pack of 8) and yarn and away I went!  Admittedly, I've gone back and spent more on yarn, but the inital $$ was just to see if I actually liked it.

  • @SPurp13‌
    Thanks for posting this!
Your projects are adorable! I love the little dresses! Ive been too intimidated to try any clothing yet. Im the one who posted the hat with bow pattern. Its not my own but I can send the link if anyones interested.

I just finished a baby blanket and am working on a small small blanket to place over her in the carseat. It is just carseat size, so its a quick and easy project. Im also going to make a matching hat. Ill post pictures when Im done!
  • I saw a pattern for the carseat blanket (with handles)! That's next on my list. I'm making booties right now.
