TTO?

What doest TTO smell like?  If it's hard to describe, can you tell me if it smells good?  I am looking at some different homemade cleaning recipes and many of them call for TTO.  I was thinking about ordering some online but for some reason I vaguely recall some of you saying it smelled terrible??  And is it powerful...ie: if I mix it with lavender oil or scented castile soap would it just cover up the other scents?

  • I think antiseptic is a good description. It's very strong. I'm not sure those other oils would mask it

  • @mapleme tto grew on me. But I refuse the patchouli. :P

I actually like the smell of tto. But I also think lavender will cover it.

It smells very medicinal. I LOVE the smell! But I know lots of people don't.

  • I like the smell of TTO. It's sort of piney-medicinal to me.

You should be able to go to a pharmacy and find TTO soap or shampoo and give it a sniff, to see if it's something you like or don't like.

What do y'all think of this recipe for a multipurpose cleaner: 2 Tbsp castille soap, 10-20 drops TTO, diluted in a little less than 32 fl oz of water.  I am just looking for an alternative to vinegar/water.

ETA: I already have lavender and peppermint castile soap.
  • Honestly we just use Castile soap diluted and if we want to sanitize we use the vinegar/ water combo second.

Maybe that's an option and you don't even need the tto!

What ratio of castile to water do you use?
