Pregnant after IF

Has anyone here conceived on your first ovulation after 6-8 months of NO cycles/no periods?

Hi there

Here is my history:
I'm 24 years old, healthy.  Been on BC pills for the past 10 years.  I have been off birth control for 8 months now, and still no periods.  Nothing.  Not even a little bit of spotting.  I was pretty discouraged by this as we've been trying to conceive for the past 8 months as well…  Anyways, I've been to the doctor and she ordered some blood tests.  She also wants me to take 5 days of "Provera", and see her in about a month for a follow up.  I did not take that medication yet.

Here is my question:
Does anyone out there have a history of getting pregnant without ever seeing a period?  I'm talking 6-8 months of no periods and then - Yay! you're pregnant?

I'm a sonographer (I do diagnostic ultrasounds at the hospital for a living).  That means that I can check my ovaries pretty regularly…  I checked them last week just for fun and saw -Gasp! a Dominant follicle (2 cm).  Two days later it burst! (Was it ovulation? I'm not sure).  Needless to say, my husband and I were pretty busy trying during that week of "possible" ovulation.  Anyway, I checked myself today and saw that I now have a complexe cyst on my ovary… It could be a Corpus luteum (supports early pregnancy)… But it's pretty early to tell…  I took a pregnancy test and it came back negative.  But again, probably still too early…

Any thoughts on this are welcome!    In the mean time, I am (impatiently) waiting to check myself in a few weeks or take another pregnancy test.

Well I'm not really worried about hyperplasia… My lining started at around 3-5 mm 4 months ago, now it's starting to look more like 7-8 mm (I mesured with ultrasound).  Doesn't it have to be AT LEAST 7-8 mm for a good implantation?  The lining can go up to 14-15 mm in a healthy adult, that's normal…

In my work, hyperplasia is a condition that we see in post-menopausal women who have vaginal bleeding, not a concern in younger adults (unless you're under a drug called Tomoxifen for breast CA).  It was a GP that I saw, my family doctor.  We don't really have RE's in Canada… You go see the OB/GYN for any fertility concerns.  I'm not there yet…  My family doctor really didn't seemed concerned that I didn't have any periods or spotting.

But that being said, I am definitely going to take the provera if I don't get my period in two weeks. Thanks for all the great advice/info!  :)

I did with DS#1 (currently pregnant with baby #2.)

I went off the birth control pill in April 2010. DH and I had decided we'd start trying in July 2010. We'd planned a trip to Europe to celebrate our first anniversary and I wanted a few cycles post-BC before we started TTC.

By July 2010, I still had not gotten a post-BC period. I went to my GYN who prescribed provera. I got a provera period shortly after finishing my dosage. By September 2010, I still had not gotten a "natural" period." My GYN prescribed Provera again and said if I don't get a "natural" period again to go see an RE. This time, I got a Provera period while on the Provera.

By November 2010, still no "natural" period. I had a consultation with an RE which included an ultrasound. She told me she "thought" I was going to ovulate, suggested I come back in about a month, which coincidentally was right after a pre-planned cruise DH were taking.

Early December 2010, DH and I are on the cruise and I just don't feel right. I'm very nauseous, very tired, everything smells terrible, etc. I just thought maybe it was the motion, although I don't get motion sickness.

We return home and I still don't feel right. I take a test that night and BFP! take another about a 1/2 hour later BFP! Take another the next morning and BFP! Went to my pre-scheduled RE appointment and got an ultrasound where we saw DS for the first time! He measured 6w2 and we even got his heartbeat! It was amazing and a huge surprise!

So OP it's definitely possible!!! GL!!!!
BFP: 5/10/14 after 14 cycles of trying!
    EDD: 1/21/15
    5/12 1st beta: 28
    5/14 2nd beta: 87.5
5/23: 3rd beta: 4000.6 + saw gestational sac and yolk sac
5/30: 4th beta: 17,852 + saw fetal pole and heard heartbeat! 127 BPM!

Just a little update:  I did get my period yesterday!  Exactly two weeks after my first ovulation

Hopefully this is a good sign (fingers crossed) that my cycles will be regular.  Thank you for your reply Lindsay, what an awesome story!!

So for the other girls  I'm sorry if I sounded like a know-it-all, and yes you CAN get hyperplasia at a young age polyps, fibroids, cancer can cause all that what I was saying is that I didn't feel it was LIKELY for me.  But it COULD have been bad, and yessss maybe I SHOULD have taken the provera You should just know my doctor did not explain to me in ANY details what it would do for me, so I didn't feel comfortable taking it just yet.  Maybe I am trying to self-diagnose myself, but know that I am just right there with all of you - obsessed with TTC and worried!  Where I live, there is a big shortage of doctors, and fertility specialists are almost non-existent.  I have co-workers who have been trying for TWO years and they are only seeing their family doctor now  Not all of us have the luxury of having an RE.
