Random Fun Question: How did you meet your SO?

Just curious as to how you met your SO?

We met on a website called MyFitnessPal which is a site were you discuss fitness, track calories and macros and just be exercise geeks.

You can add friends on there like you do on Facebook, and one day he friend requested me. I didn't know who he was so I asked him why he wanted

to be my friend and who he was. I was a bit moody...haha! He then wrote back a giant paragraph about how he lives only 2 hrs from me and he doesn't 

know anyone else on there that is local and he was impressed I was a weightlifter. I added him, we became friends first and talked about fitness for a few months, and then we met and the rest was history. He stole my heart at a late breakfast first-time meeting at an iHop and a date to the art museum. 

Ahhh...I feel so lucky, and can't wait to marry him in September! : )

We met in the lobby of a residence hall neither of us lived in. On my first day of law school, just hours after my parents left DC to return home to FL. He's very charming and very persuasive. Instead of attending my orientation, I went down the street to the Irish pub with him. I didn't drink. .

We met in a local bar. I was looking for a different bar where I'd seen friends post on facebook about hanging out. My ex and I were newly separated and I was proving to him I could be fun. I'm not really a drinker.

I met my dh that night. I told him I wasn't going to be anyone's girlfriend. We could be friends but not to expect any more than that from me. Three years later I'm not his girlfriend. I'm his wife. Hahaha.

Our parents used to work together at the same company, but we didn't know each other growing up. When I moved to the DC-Metro area for grad school, his father gave me some old junk to hand off to his son who had just moved there for grad school and a full-time job. After brushing me off for several weeks (not wanting the said junk), we finally talked and hit it off. We started hanging out. Both of us were newly 22. Got married at 26 and everyone jokes that it was an arranged marriage.  :P

I met my DH in 7th grade! He liked me right away, but I had my eyes on another boy. He actually would act as the go between with me and the other boy who I ended up dating. But in 9th grade, we broke up and after some hanging out, DH and I started "going out." It's been 23 years of being together, and almost 11 years of marriage.(Our anniversary is 6/28). 
Looong time! We run into people from highschool and they can't believe we're still together!

The short story is that we met through a "mutual friend". The somewhat longer story is that I was dating that "friend". He was kind of a loser, but I thought his friend (my eventual DH) was super nice. After I broke up with loser guy (it never got serious), I kept in touch with his friend and about 6 months later, I was officially dating him.

@lgsdesigner, my first "pseudo" date with DH ended at an IHOP. it wasn't technically a date, but it was the first time just the two of us hung out together and felt a lot like a date.

@TAT2MAMI, our anniversary is also 6/28, but we've only been married 5 years.

I came to Disney World in 2005 as a culinary intern. I was working the Epcot Food and Wine festival, but my "home" kitchen was Le Cellier (the Canadian Steakhouse restaurant). MH was down on an international internship (he is Canadian). The first time I met him was out in the Canadian booth for Food and Wine. I wasn't always in that kiosk as our kitchen was in charge of 6 different ones so we moved around a bit. DH was walking around entertaining guests and acting like a goof. His name tag said "Michael" so I introduced myself and he promptly corrected me that he actually went by his middle name, Patrick. He was always a bit of a kid at heart and I remember distinctly him dropping an ice cube down my chef jacket later that afternoon. I had interactions with him on and off for a few weeks. I always thought he was cute, but I distinctly remember the moment I thought I wanted to date him. He was out interacting with guests and I was in the kiosk cooking. I watched as he approached a little girl (maybe 3 or 4) walking around in full Belle regalia. Patrick dropped to one knee like he was genuflecting to a princess and kissed her hand. She blushed, she totally love it. And I fell for him right then and there. A couple weeks later we were both out at the same club and I started dancing with him. I must have been looking at him pretty intensely because he said "I can't tell if you want to say something to me or you want me to kiss you." I tartly replied, "which do you think?" The rest, as they say, is history.

I was out at a country western bar with my sister in law for her bachelorette night out. 

My hubby was dragged out by his friends there because he had not had a girlfriend and or date in like 3 years…….so his friends were on a mission. 

Out of ALL the girls in this HUGE country western bad they picked me…………and somehow we ended up married….lol. 

Niether of us have ever been back to that place. lol

We met through friends... it was mutual lust at first which entailed a lot of flirting...We went to dinner several times with our group of friends. Our first date alone we went to dinner at a hibachi restuarant and talked for three hours straight.  We talked about everything you aren't supposed to talk about on first dates.  It worked!

We met in a neighborhood bar.  We both knew each other but only to see.  I had never gone to the bar before but a friend of mine wanted to go so I did.  We started talking there and he asked for my number but I instead if him my beeper number (is beeper lol ).  He beeped me the next day.  I later found out that I went to school with his brother's girlfriend and that he went home and called her to ask about me.

We met on match.com. However! We went the same high school and he even played football with my brother. We just never met; it was an enourmous high school. I knew he was someone special when his second message said: "My dog thinks I'm funny." A goofy sense of humor and the fact that he had a dog won me over pretty quickly.

We meet in the summer of 95, a friend of a friend was dating his friend. One day she said I will have my boyfriend bring over a friend for you. I was very skeptic after we first meet. I thought he didn't like me. I was ready for the guys to leave so we could talk and laugh about them. After they left that's when I was told he was very interested in getting to know me. We dated for 10 years, then we finally tied the knot 4-30-05

@CaraH - We've definitely had our ups and downs and when we were younger (like highschool) we would break up and briefly date other people, but we would always end up back together.
Even in our marriage, we've had 2 very difficult times where we briefly separated. That's actually one of the reasons why we took so long to TTC #2. But now we are seriously better than ever. We have a newfound appreciation of one another and of our marriage.

We originally met when I was 16, he 15. We both had our own DIY zines we printed so that how we connected. First time we met was at an Urban Dance Squad concert at Stony Brook University that year. We were friends for years and lost touch after community college in 1994. I moved from NY to CO for grad school and found him on MySpace in 2005 where his profile said "moving to Denver January 1st"  Cool, I though, I have an old friend moving here! We both happened to be single and decided to be friends with benefits (I had recently gotten out of a long term relationship and not looking to seriously date, plus I though I never wanted to date a guy shorter than me). That backfired as we both ended up falling in love. I refer to it as "love at first sight 18 years later." Three states, four apartments, a house, two rabbits, a dog and a kid later...here we are! We just celebrated our 4th anniversary and are trying for kid #2.

My huz and i met in a bar while working abroad and both being homesick. We quickly figured out we used to work across the street from each other but never met, and had all kinds of other things in common. A few years later, we've moved back home, got married and are house hunting and TTC.  It feels like we've known each other forever (in a good way).

This is going to sound horrible at first but, we met in jail! Hahaha no no no we were not inmates! We are both officers from different departments and happened to be booking people in at the same time. We had seen each other before but never talked. He overheard me talking to someone about something he was interested in and used it as an "in" and way to talk to me. I didn't find out until much later that his friends kept an eye out for me and told him where I was if we were working the same shift so he could find a reason to be where I was. We managed to run into each other often after that, now I know why I was so hesitant about going out with him at the time, but once I did I was a goner!

We met online before there was an online, you know, like how it is now... I mean there was geocities and webcrawler, but that was about it! I was 19 and he was 23 and in college. I lived in South Fla and he lived in NC. I had kind of a sad home life with a divorced parent who was depressed and depended on me for everything and didn't have a job either, so we were home together all day, every day. I didn't have a job either, I was laid off from my ice cream shop job where I was paid under the table... even after months of searching I couldn't find a job (we lived in a pretty small town and I didn't have a car or even know how to drive)... but we did have internet and we used to play an online medieval themed, text-based game called a MUD, where you have a character and fight monsters, but it's all in text (so imagine if you can EverQuest/Warcraft/Skyrim without all the cool graphics, more like the Oregon Trail from 8th grade (but you couldn't die of dysentery))! So my character met my DH's character and our characters hung out in the game and then we started talking 'offline' by phone ... then he decided to visit (in person) the summer after we met online and essentially rescued me! Brought me to NC, he taught me how to drive and helped me get through college!  We got married ~2 years later (have been together for 18 years now).

Back then you were considered weird if you met a love interest online!

@mdogan29: what a sweet story. I remember those days and the creeps I would encounter in the AOL role playing chat rooms. Also, I totally remember it being taboo to meet a love interest online.

We're an internet couple. After I got dumped pretty harshly by a guy I had been seeing for two years and was pretty hung up on, I got really really mad. I worth way more than that! I started serial dating, hanging out at my favorite bar, dating younger guys ... And older guys. On the 4th of July, after it became obvious that the latest guy and I had absolutely no chemistry and were going to be good friends, I checked by POF account. DH had sent me a pretty lame message. I wrote back that if he wanted to impress me he had to do better than that! Boy is that man persistent! ...and the chemistry...wow! Mad skills! This July will mark 3 years for us.
