tips for staying motivated/on-track

Hi Ladies,

I have just come out of a 3 month long, very overwhelming period of intense work (10-12 hour days and needing to do some work on weekends just to keep-up). Now that the crazy times are behind me I have some very mundane tasks that need to get done but I am having a very hard time staying motivated (this stuff just doesn't excite me). How do you get through these types of tasks. Thanks

  • I know what you mean. It's the post-deadline-hangover. One trick I use is that I have installed an app called focus booster on my PC. It's essentially a counter which counts down 25 minutes (to work) and then 5 minutes (to rest). I focus on getting through the 25 minutes without distractions and then take 5 minutes to get a coffee/bump, etc. Because the running minutes are staring me from a computer screen i'm less likely to meander.

  • For me music is key. Having my headphones on keeps me from getting distracted by other things.
