Babies on the Brain

Hey everyone :)

Hi there I'm new the forum, and I just wanted to say me and my hubby have been married for about 2 weeks now and I'm already starting to itch for a baby! We are hopefully getting a house soon and I want to start soon. I have an app on my phone that tracks my cycle etc, but any other tips or tricks I need to know? Should I go to my  gyno for a check up before we start everything?

Re: Hey everyone :)

  • If your due for an annual exam I would recommend getting that taken care of and asking your gyno for a recommendation (if you even want one) for prenatal vitamins and start them now.

  • If you haven't had blood work done as part of your annual physical lately, my OB likes to do some basic blood work as part of the preconception counseling he does. I did my preconception counseling and Mirena removal as part of my annual checkup and the blood work revealed my TSH (relates to thyroid function) wasn't a good level for fertility so I was able to start medication to get that under control. My OB also advised me to take extra folic acid.

You may be able to request advice on vitamins, etc, over the phone without having an office appointment. If I hadn't been having an annual exam I could have called my OB's office and one of the nurses would probably have been able to get that info for me and find out if my OB wanted any blood work done.
