My OB gave me an order for as HSG, which I want to get as soon as I can. Apparently I can just show up at the hospital whenever, and they'll do it. Based on AF and my schedule this week and weekend, the possibilities are Friday (which will be CD 6), and Monday (CD 9). I almost always ovulate on CD 14 (never earlier than CD 13, which only happened once), and DH and I plan to start our FW activities on CD 11.
So, which day do you think would be better for the HSG? Is it bad to do it too close to the end of AF? Is it likely that there will be enough continuing discomfort that I'll want to abstain from sex for a day or two afterwards?
Also, about how long does the process take? I'm hoping to get in early in the morning and be in to work at around my usual time. (Yes, this means nothing stronger than ibufrofen for me, so I hope it doesn't hurt too much!) Is this realistic?

Re: Timing of HSG?
The process was very quick for me, they said 15 minutes, but I think I was on the table for 5. I was very nervous about how I'd feel after and whether I'd be up for returning to work, but I had no problems going back and only had minor cramping (I took 3 Advil 30 minutes before as instructed). You should wear a pad after, though b/c I had minor spotting (probably could've gotten away with just a liner) and the dye they use is expected to leak out a little afterwards (I didn't really notice since it's clear).
Good luck, and I hope it's quick and painless for you!

I think if I'm absolutely sure there's no bleeding by Friday, I'll try to do it then (so I can try again Monday if they can't for some reason).
Good times, good times...

Yes, as PP stated I was told you cannot bleed at all. And being the why person that I am I asked my RE. He stated because you don't want blood introduced outside of the uterine cavity.
Good luck with your HSG!
