****Update! ****Any Vets out there...upset about my cat

****Update**** So we went to our vet today and I'm feeling much better. The vertigo is gone and she is much better. Still wobbly but much, much less so than yesterday. The vet suspects it could be her thyroid, vestibular issue or a benign brain tumor. Doing a full work up on her and I should know more tomorrow. She said the fact that she is already better is promising. They didn't do an x-ray because she said there is no way it's spinal based on the eyes and vertigo yesterday. *********************** My super active, healthy cat is suddenly showing signs of a stroke or neurological issue. I took her to the ER this morning but didn't really have a good experience. The Vet took her blood pressure and vitals and they were all fine. She was showing signs of vertigo, unsteady gait, trouble coordinating her limbs and issues with one side. Eating fine, not in any obvious pain. I'm taking her for blood work and another look tomorrow but need some calm advice in the meantime. I've kept her relatively confined all day because she still thinks she can climb and jump. This evening, I'm seeing some definite improvement but she is still unsteady. Thanks in advance for any advice, suggestions for questions etc.

  • Hugs! It could have been a minor stroke or even an inner ear issue. My dog had vestibular issues (trouble with coordination/spacial awareness/balance).

If Kitty is relatively happy, pain free & eating/drinking then she should be ok in the short term. Crating is a good idea so she doesn't hurt herself.

It's a wait & see right now. Wishing you the best.

  • Thanks! Now that we are going to bed, I have her in a large playpen with a top in my room with food, water, bed and shallow litter box. I'm so sad. She is the best, sweetest cat ever.

  • Good luck! There is SO much this could be, from a head injury to a stroke to a tumor to poisoning to ear issues to infections.

Keep her confined for now and keep us updated, okay?
