Summary:
Eleanor was born at 1:53am on Father's Day. She weighed 7lb 10oz and was 19 inches. The whole thing took less than 2 hours.
My labor background: with DD1, my water broke during sex with no contractions prior and baby was born 5hours 45 minutes later. I had never timed contractions before and felt like a newbie at it this time.
I had been having very non productive, non-painful contractions for 2 weeks. Sometimes they would be timeable in the evenings, but they always went away when I went to bed.
I had also lost my plug at 38 weeks, then again on Saturday morning at 39+6. Much more watery this time and I continued to lose it all day.
I walked about 5 miles throughout the day on Saturday and still wasn't having real, productive contractions. I went to bed at 930 and fell asleep pretty quickly.
At 12:03am I woke up with a really strong contractions. 3 minutes later another super strong one. I woke DH up and said we were going because I knew labor would be quick and the hospital is about 25-30 minutes away. I am soooooo lucky I followed my instinct and just waited through 2 contractions before deciding to go in. We called my parents and they were over in 10 minutes. We left for the hospital at about 12:55.
In the car, I was having crazy contractions. It was also pouring buckets so everyone was driving super slow. I started feeling nauseous and thought I was in transition but didn't want to freak my husband out, even though he knew it was getting intense.
DH dropped me off at L&D at 1:20 and went to park the car. Had 2 crazy contractions while waiting and knew shit was getting really real.
Went up to get registered and my water broke at the registration desk at 1:35 right after I filled out all the forms. It had meconium in it and I almost started to worry but I knew baby would be out soon.
I walked a few feet and was on my way to triage 20 feet away when I grabbed the wall and said I had to push. At first they didn't believe me, but then they ran over with the wheelchair once DH was like "she is pushing!"
They barely got me into the room and threw my clothes off. I was sweating a TON. Like I had just gotten out of the shower. They tried 5 IVs and couldn't get one in bc I was so slick.
I was having really intense contractions and wasn't able to control pushing even though they were waiting for a dr to arrive. Backup OB was in place when my dr walked in, sat down, made a small snip and baby was out!
Eleanor was born at 1:53am, a little over 30 minutes after we got to the hospital. She was perfect, but I had another interior tear so they had to put me under for about 30 minutes to stitch me up since I didn't have an epi.
So I got the med-free birth I wanted again! But holy shit was it intense. Way way more intense than dd1. I still haven't slept and am getting pretty tired but DD is latching and eating like a champ! The opposite of dd1.
Funny thing, dd1 was born Father's Day eve and this one was born Father's Day!
And here she is!
