I'm taking a careful step back into this group. It's been a long time since I was on tb! We had a very long journey trying to start a family. 8 iuis, ivf with ICSI and pgd and two losses. We stopped treatment after our failed FET in January and decided to live child free. Last night I took a test because I needed some Advil after a long day of scraping popcorn ceilings and AF hadn't shown up yet. To my utter shock, it was positive. Took a digi this morning and it was positive too.
I am now that person that I never believed existed...just stop trying and it will happen. Ugh!!! I know we have a while before we will be telling anyone but I really don't want to say we weren't trying. I've been much more open since we had decided to be child free about our struggles. I don't want to perpetuate the "just relax and stop trying" myth. How would you respond to those questions when we start to get them?

Oh my gosh!!!! It's been a while, but I remember you I know it's super early for you but this is so exciting! I really hope for a happy and healthy 9 months for you, congrats!!

As for the questions, I don't know what to tell you. I hope someone else has some good ideas for you.

Thanks ladies.  It is so nice to hear that you are both here and doing well!  I know I'm probably overthinking it.  I'm going to try to just roll with it since I know the first tri is going to be really hard.  I just want to make it this time!  With my last loss everything looked perfect until my last u/s and even my doctor was shocked.  Stick baby stick!

Sweet #kflynn81.  :-)  Miss you too sweetie.  I hope things are going well for you.  I heard from a little birdie that there is still some anger about my leaving.  I wish that wasn't the case. I wish everyone there the best.  My sister has done more IUI's and is in the 2ww now.  Hoping for good news for her too!!  Big healing hugs to you sweetie.

Congrats on your BFP! 

We were one of "those" couples too. You will probably start hearing a lot about "those couples" once you start sharing your news. I'd say a good 75% of coworkers had some story to tell me about others they knew who went through IF only to "give up" then get pregnant. Its like they don't know what to say, but feel the need to say something more than just congrats because they understand you went through a lot to get to that point.

While we didn't talk much about our IF struggles, most assumed that's why we adopted. No one has said we got pregnant from relaxing, although I have been asked how long IF meds stay in your system. Most people will just say congrats and be genuinely happy for you. Don't worry too much about the rest!

Wow, so exciting to see you back here!  I know it's a cliche but I do know several women here in your boat and I say who cares how it happens, just celebrate!   I don't have any advice but hope you can settle in for a happy, healthy, boring 9 month stay.

Congratulations, that's wonderful! Although I didn't go through the extensive treatment you did, I also got a bfp naturally. We were on a break for a few months before moving on to IVF and it happened. I already told my parents, and my Mom's first question was how, if it was natural or medicated. But my Dad said this baby is a miracle, it doesn't matter how it happened, God wanted us to be pg at this moment in our lives. He planned this miracle for us. That's what I'm sticking with H&H 9 months to you!!

My mom said she also got pregnant with me after they stopped treatment. Guess it runs in the family. :-)
I think I'm going to go with some version of "after three long years of trying and treatments, we were blessed with a miracle." It provides just enough that hopefully there won't be too many questions. Why do people have to be so darn nosy?!?!?

Congrats!

While I did not have as much treatment as you, we did get our surprise, natural BFP during a retesting cycle. We were dx with DOR one week before the BFP and were told our chances were 1-2% ever on our own and 30-40% with IVF if we immediately moved onto IVF before the numbers got worse.

I changed from a high stress job right before the BFP, so some people have said things like it must be because I eliminated stress. We also got some comments about that we must have been more relaxed because I wasn't on meds or doing a procedure that cycle. I usually just answer by saying my numbers were so bad that cycle that it was really just our little miracle and that I am less focused on why it was finally my turn and just celebrating that it did finally happen. (This is after the first tri...pgal made it hard to share right away except with our parents and we waited to tell them until we were past previous losses).

FX for a great second beta and your u/s. We all know that "relax and stop trying" is not a real method and the fact that this happened without treatment doesn't diminish your struggle at all. Celebrate and enjoy the ride. GL!

Second beta was 649 with a doubling time of 44 hours. First u/s is on the 2nd. I still am in shock but the ever increasing symptoms are here to remind me that it is real. Crazy!!
