Potty Training

yes or no to pull-ups

I realize pull-ups are just another form of a diaper. I have heard mixed reviews. Some say they never used them, some say they are convenient. I have heard a con is they can become reliant on them and then a pro they can make your life easier because they are easy to use. Just wanted some of you to weigh in on your experiences. I have a DS who is a month shy of 3 and showing a lot of interest. He trys to pull his diaper down himself and of course its tricky since I have to help him undo the sides, etc. This is what is making me wonder if pull-ups might be easier.

Re: yes or no to pull-ups

  • We used huggies slip one and now pampers easy ups I like the slip on better far as fit goes but my son can pull either one down himself. As far as him rely on pull ups instead of using the potty we haven't noticedany of that.

We jumped right into the bare-bottom/panties training since I SAH and could handle a few accidents. We use Easy Ups for nap/night though because she doesn't stay dry every night. I read night training can take awhile so I'm not rushing it.
that's what Ive heard so far on the night training too. My dcp did not recommend using pull-ups at night but I am not exactly loving that idea. I feel like I would be cleaning accidents nightly.

  • Pull ups give a false sense of security.  They are not as absorbent as diapers and your child will feel the wetness, which is the point.  Probably not a good idea for nighttime.  If they are still not going through the night dry on a regular basis, probably an indication they are not completely ready and I would still use a diaper.

We never used them and went right to underwear.
