Trouble TTC

-:-3T Weekly Check-In-:-

If you are finally getting your BFP, please PM me so I don't miss it!  Also this helps me avoid posting an ambiguous BFP if you're not ready to officially call it.

Reply to this post if you would like your information updated.  Please post an update at least monthly so I know you are still active - even if your info hasn't changed.  You will be removed if you go more than four weeks without posting.

If you would like to be added or updated, please answer the questions below:

1. What is your name (if you want to share)?
2. When did you start TTC (month/year)?
3. What is your diagnosis (if you have one)?
4. What treatments are you doing?

For everyone who is up to date on the above, where are you in your current cycle and how's it going?

QOTW: How do you and your partner split up household chores?

Re: -:-3T Weekly Check-In-:-

  • @ky29 Thanks as always for organizing the check-in! Please move me to MFI (we've finished testing, hallelujah!).

On CD18, finally got EWCM and an OPK+! Drove myself batty with an almost-positive at 10am (not enough bladder hold time), then finally got the dark line after holding until 1pm.

IUI scheduled for tomorrow morning. Thrilled that today was a BD day (we do EOD for MFI) so we abstained instead and will have 2.5 days of abstinence time before IUI!

I'm very worried that I won't actually O until tomorrow night or later. I want to ask about getting a repeat IUI the next morning if my temps haven't risen yet.

Has anyone been in this situation? I would love to know if you did B2B IUI, or if you hated relying on OPKs as much as I do? Thank you!!

DH and I have never had to make explicit chores or jobs around the house. I'm lucky that he was raised well by his mom and does dishes every night, cleans the bathroom and floors, and likes to straighten up the house and do yardwork. I enjoy laundry, gardening, and grocery shopping. We're so lucky! The fights only come from my clothes on the floor, his towels on the floor, and his asinine dishwasher loading strategies. :)

  • I start BC on Monday to prep for IVF #1!

QOTW: for the most part it's just whoever decides to do each chore and when... We are pretty good about just keeping up with what all needs to be done, and typically one of us will notice if the other has been doing a lot and then do more on our end. It's worked out pretty well!

    Me: 32  DH: 33  Married: March 2004

    July 2006: started TTC
2008: HSG (normal), couple rounds of clomid through gyno
2008 - 2010: dragging my feet out of fear and procrastination
October 2010: first consultation with RE, dx PCOS and fibroids (DH slightly low count/motility)
Oct. 2010 - Dec. 2012:  In DENIAL! avoided the issue because I was scared of surgery
January 2013: returned to RE, fibroids grew significantly
February 2013: second HSG, fibroids pushed on tubes which blocked them somewhat
March 2013: MRI to determine what type of surgery may be necessary

July 29, 2013: fibroids (5) removed via robotic laparascopy
August 2013 - Nov 2013 : benched due to recent surgery

    IUI #1, Dec. 24, 2013, BFN
    IUI #2, Jan. 25, 2014, BFN
    IUI #3, Feb. 25, 2014  BFN
IUI #4 canceled due to lack of response to letrozole
    IUI #4.1 April 28, 2014, BFN

May 16, 2014: wtf consult, start prepping for IVF in June and add injects for one last IUI in the meantime
IUI #5 started letrozole and bravelle but canceled after HSG led to new diagnosis

May 21, 2014: third HSG, tubes blocked, one at the beginning, one hydrosalpinx??
June 11, 2014: consult, approved to move on to IVF because the hydro is not completely blocked therefore allowing fluid to move through slowly rather than backwards
    IVF #1 August 8, 2014 - 3dt of 2 embryos, BFN
September 17, 2014 - 4th HSG, the right tube is very patent (open!!) dye went straight through this time. Weird!
    October 2, 2014 - started metformin treatment
    November 14, 2014 - blood work, brought A1C down from 5.8 to 5.5

November 26, 2014 - RE finally back from vaca and reviewed my chart, no more IVFs for rest of calendar year
December 1, 2014 - Right after Thanksgiving, I called a new clinic and got in right away! Plan for IVF
    December 17, 2014 - ER! 29 retrieved (!!), 16 mature, all 16 fertilized (ICSI)

    IVF #2 December 20, 2014 - 3dt of 3 embryos, BFN

We are done with treatment unsuccessfully. :(

  • Still on break, which has oddly caused (TMI warning!) DH to want sex more often LOL.

I absolutely hate doing the dishes, so I do all the chores, except taking out the trash and doing the dishes. DH is a contractor, so he also handles all repairs and maintenance to our house.

@BunnyBerry‌ - I think your IUI timing would be just fine, even if it's before ovulation. Sperm can live for a couple days, while the egg won't live as long. So it's better to be before than too late!

  • CD 23 of my stupid natural cycle. The sore boobs I ALWAYS get a week after ovulation never came so I'm thinking I didn't ovulate and will have to wait for CD35 for an unnecessary beta before taking provera to restart. :(

QOTW: We split it up pretty evenly. Whatever has to be done we just do. I absolutely HATE cleaning bathtubs so that's his thing and I handle the majority of the laundry because he's a little too willy nilly with it for my taste!

    Mild update:
    2. When did you start TTC (month/year)? 3/2012
    3. What is your diagnosis (if you have one)? Unexplained.
    4. What treatments are you doing?
I'm on cycle number 2, still using femara (2.5mg. We cancelled the first IUI in May, but we will be doing it this week(!). Going in for a monitoring u/s on Monday.

QOTW: How do you and your partner split up household chores?
I handle most of the deep cleaning inside (I enjoy it and find it relaxing). We pretty well split the little daily chores (I cook more, but he cleans the litter boxes more). He takes care of outside more than me, and is better about making sure we get oil changes and stuff. We sound kind of traditional, but we really are not.

  • I start bcp today for ivf/ICSI 1.2, and I'm hoping it goes much better than our last cancelled cycle. We switched to a long lupron instead of antagonist and are hoping for an end of July retrieval.

QOTW- we're really good about splitting things evenly. I do all the cooking, dusting, bathrooms, mopping, and laundry and DH usually does the dishes, vacuuming, yard work, and is in charge of trash duty.

  • I was fully settled on not taking any meds this cycle, since we will be out of town during O. DH mentioned he still thought we should try femara, but that means I need to use OPK's and progesterone if we actually wanted to give those eggs a chance. I had a consult with my RE on Friday, and came out with a bag of crinone and a refill on femara - I guess we're trying this cycle!

She didn't seem to think IVF would be necessary for us, but I have absolutely no reason to believe IUI's or TI will work after all of this time. It seems like other unexplained IF ladies on here are moved to IVF after 3+ failed IUI. So right now the plan is for TI this cycle, nothing next cycle (we'll be separated), and then a femara+inject IUI in August. We also redid all of my bloodwork on Friday, so I'm looking forward to those results.

RE said something about how I shouldn't be worried at this point about needing IVF or not getting pregnant, and I immediately had to choke back tears for the rest of the morning. I try so hard to keep myself cool, calm and collected all of the time, it just takes one sympathetic look and supportive comment from someone to bring up the emotions... I HATE IF.

QOTW: We share most duties, but overall I'm more in charge of the inside of the house, and he's more in charge outside. If its gross - he's fixing/cleaning/killing it. I think I'm pretty lucky! :)

  • I am CD18 after Femara, Ovidrel and TI, this was supposed to be an IUI round but because of work/interviewing schedule and DH’s schedule we did TI instead. I am not super positive about this cycle :( QOTW- The answer to the question changes depending on who you ask, me or DH. DH does the lawn and the outside stuff and I do the inside such as laundry, dishes and tiding up. The splitting up of the household chores was a source of contention for us so we decide to hire a cleaning lady to come in twice a month, this has helped A LOT.

  • Cycle day one is supposed to be Tuesday and the start of my first iui cycle.
I do the cooking and cleaning. My DH does yard work, car maintenance, and his own laundry. I make a grocery list and he goes to the store.

GinnyJones82 and Ketchup!) I am feeling super craptastic today. Spent the day with hubbys family. my SIL is PG and this is my first time seeing her since she announced on mothers day (but I wasnt there) She doesnt even seem excited and just complained most of the time we were at the lake house. Ugh.... ughhh ughhh. I am really hoping this month sticks because if not then I move on to an RE. My OB/Gyn will want to increase my Clomid probably and I just wont do that without monitoring. I already feel like if it is making me ovulate then what other issues are there. So I have my FX I would probably be able to test on 4th of July and me and my hubby will have been together for 4 years that day. Wouldnt that be fabulous.

  • Unexplained IF. Currently in 2WW of IUI#6 (our first attempt with Clomid). After this, we're planning IVF in the fall. We might do one more IUI with injects first.

Official diagnosis: Unexplained IF. I am 32. I have low ovarian reserve (low AMH), and poor egg quality. I've also been diagnosed with mild glandular developmental arrest (lining problems, detected with EFT).

We are using open ID donor sperm. IUIs #1-7=BFN. IVF September 2014 antagonist protocol, 8R,5M,3F, 5 day transfer of 1 morula = BFN. IVF#2 planned for January 2015 (antagonist protocol + HGH).

  • @ky29‌ You can remove me from the list. I haven't updated a few weeks because things have been busy. DH and I have decided to stop all fertility treatments indefinitely, we will still try to TTC. After 2 1/2 years I'm spent, I need a serious time out. We're going to take some time to travel, maybe move cities and jobs. The plan right now is to not have any plan. I will still lurk, I wish you all the luck and thank you for all your kind words and support.

  • For everyone who is up to date on the above, where are you in your current cycle and how's it going?

We're meeting with the RE on June 26 to get our calendar for IVF #1 in July.  I had a repeat HSG last week, and DH had a repeat SA.  His SA was improved from last time, and the HSG was kind of ambiguous.

QOTW: How do you and your partner split up household chores?

I do most of the chores.  He takes out the garbage, mows the lawn, and occasionally does dishes.  The rest of the stuff is generally my deal, although sometimes I'll come home to a totally clean house, which is awesome.

  • IUI#3 was a BFN.  had day 3 monitoring and BW done saturday and they found lots of large (over 45mm) cysts and a bunch more medium sized ones.

So I'm on BCP's and working to get insurance approval for IVF, hoping since I turn 35 next month and that this last round of IUI's resulted in some mild OHSS they approve it and don't make us do another IUI.

QOTW: he typically takes the outdoor stuff like mowing...i refuse to attempt to learn to use the zero turn...I'd run something over.  I do most of the indoor stuff, but he will do dishes and other things especially during winter when there isn't much in the way of outdoor chores.

    All Welcome

  • I am on day 3 of stims...  TMI warning.  I had surgery in January for an ovarian cyst which required a large incision and 22 staples.  Due to the incision, I still have some really weird numbness from my belly button down.  This numbness makes the injections very easy on me since I can't feel anything.

QOTW: We split most of the chores pretty evenly.  The only ones that is assinged is the dishes for me and the laundry for him.

  • Good luck everyone!!!

I'm just waiting for another report tomorrow to see how many make it to blastocyst. I talked to my Dr yesterday and I had 2 late bloomers so all that were mature were fertilized so I had 16 still going with 12 at avg or above avg status.

QOTW: My husband takes out the garbage and uses the weedeater. He works long hours and a lot and I don't work so I don't mind doing it all. Plus I'm anal and he can't do it my way. I love yard work, it's my therapy. No one washes my clothes, even when I had a maid that was off limits. When I'm having bad days he helps me out but I'd prefer to do most of it myself.
    Fucking bump!!!!
  • We did IUI #3 this morning. 14 million sperm and I had three maturing follicles last check on Wed. I will wait two weeks from today to test. I will probably shit a brick if I get pregnant again AND it sticks. I'm terrified both if it's negative and if it's positive. Terrified of another miscarriage if it's pos and terrified of moving onto IVF if it's neg.

Hey cycle buddy!!  I had my IUI on Saturday.  13 million sperm, 2 mature follicles at my last scan.  Back on progesterone - blah.

Sorry you're terrified, @katydid2014 :( I'm ambivalent, personally.  I'm not at all invested in this cycle.  It hurt too much getting so excited about "perfect timing" and "great follicles."  It's the same story each cycle, with the same shitty result - BFN.

So now I'm just like "whatever."  I'm just glad I'm finally getting off the rollercoaster, at least for the time being.  C is going to start trying after this.  It's useless to keep pumping me full of hormones if my eggs are gelatinous globs of impregnable shit.  Maybe I'll do IVF in a year or two.  But for now, I really just want a baby.  And I think C may be better able to get pregnant than me.

GTKY: My domain is the kitchen (both cooking and cleaning).  I chase C out with a spatula when she gets in my way.  I don't want anyone messing with the perfection that is my cooking.  C is a cleaner.  She generally does the laundry, vacuuming, and cleans the bathrooms.  We both alternate outdoor/handy tasks since we both suck at them equally.  After a few attempts we Google search a general handyman and pay him for an hour's worth of work we can't seem to get right.

  • @katydid2014 - I appreciate the support :) FX for you, too!!

I need to lose a decent amount of weight if I want to try IVF later.  Hence giving C a go so she can at least incubate one baby while I lose some pounds and prepare for IVF.  I have a savings account I could draw on (from my old job that was my retirement account).  It's about five grand.  It would offset some of the costs, at least.  I joked with C that I'd use it to buy us a "welcome to retirement" Mediterranean cruise since we really don't need the money with our current jobs' extraordinarily generous retirement benefit.  But I suppose if I can have kids (and eventually grandkids) with that money that may be a better way to use it ;)

But then if they put C on meds and she has twins (or God forbid, triplets) then I may not go through this again at all.  We wanted 2 - 3 maximum.  I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

As long as I have a plan, I am content.  There are ways to pay for IVF.  One just needs to get creative.  We have a shared-risk program at my clinic.  I'll probably end up going that route eventually.

Hey, for some women, IUI works (and saves a ton of money).  For the rest of us, IVF is at least an option, and I'm so grateful we live in an age where this is a possibility.

  • My name is Kayla and my husband and I have been on the TTC journey since November 2013. I was diagnosed with PCOS and Endo in 2009, so we knew we'd have some problems TTC. What we weren't anticipating is for husband to have 2 SA's resulting in 0 sperm (he went in for a check up just to be sure because of my conditions... Thank God he did). After a bunch of testing, DH has been diagnosed with low sperm count (inside testes) with low motility. His on clomid to prepare for an extraction procedure and we are going in for our first IVF appt this Thursday. As for chores: DH likes doing the weekly cleaning, while I do deep cleaning. He does gardening; I do all grocery shopping and cooking. I do all the handy work, too.
    9/09 DX Endo and PCOS
    5/30 married DH!
    11/13 husband DX azoo
5/14 Sperm Mapping - DH gets hematoma as a result, gotta wait 3 months
6/5 we have swimmers! - DH on clomid; still anovul on my side (me to DH: wanna share Clomid?)
    6/19 First IVF Appt!

  • I'm still benched. I have 11 BCPs left. I'm already worried that they cyst won't even be gone after these 3 weeks of BCPs anyway. :-\ I'm not sure if they'd be willing to do an ultrasound *before* I stopped the pills, or if it would be worth my money to pay for one anyway....

QOTW: We have a pretty even split! I do all of the laundry, but he puts it all away. I do all the meal planning and grocery shopping, and most of the cooking, but he does the dishes. He does most of the outdoor work, and I clean bathrooms and keep things organized and do the deep cleaning. We have a housekeeper come once a month too, which helps so much.

@wishiwaspreggo - Dr Reuter did mine. She's not my doctor but I guess they were swamped that morning so she stepped in for the nurse. We were out of there by about 10:15. So when are you testing? Are you still doing the acupuncture?

@ky29 Oh, wow - never had one of the doctors do mine before!  Yeah, I'm sure they just wanted us all in and out at that point lol... I'm trying to hold off testing until Friday ;) I got too hopeful last time when I tested out my trigger and thought I saw the line get darker (it was way too early) so this time I will be patient!  I'm not doing acupuncture anymore.  Didn't seem to make a difference and while it was kind of relaxing it didn't seem worth it to do again.  I did have a really, really good massage the day before my IUI.  We'll see it that makes a difference!

Are you testing now or are you waiting until later this week?

@wishiwaspreggo - My original plan was to wait until Friday, which is my husbands birthday, with the hopes of surprising him.  But, I started testing on Saturday.. and continued until this morning, and it looks like the trigger is pretty much gone.  I'm really hoping to step away from the pee sticks until Friday, so I don't over analyze the test and make myself crazy.  FX for us both on Friday!  Hopefully that massage helped you!
