Left the RE office in tears

:(( my insurance is good, but when it comes to infertility it sucks. Doc wants me to start clomid monitored which would cost me $630 per visit or $995 per cycle if I go into that payment option. It's obvious to pay $995 for the cycle. Lol an i.u.i cycle cost the same amount. So it's a no brainier to do the i.u.i cycle with clomid . Now I have to break the news to DH (he was against an invasive procedure like this). Oh and I have a balance of $1800 from last cycle. I had no idea I had to pay opp for it. The wording in the paperwork was tricky. I will ask if they can adjust that balance to $995. This is all very frustrating because last week DH & myself paid off all of our debts because we're looking to purchase our first home. I'm starting clomid because I ovulate immature follies. I can't remember the medical term for that. Hopefully DH will agree to the i.u.i & I will get my BFP. This cycle will be my one & done. If it happens great =D> if not my son will be an only child

I'm sorry for this.  Being OOP sucks and I would be irritated that your RE wasn't straightforward with you about the cost.  I wish you luck in your upcoming cycle.

Met with RE 4/11. 2 IUI's BFN. DE best option. Switched clinics to do "shared" program. Had to retake all tests and a mamm that put me behind and then on a DE waiting list for 12 months. Picked a donor!! (10/13/13) Got matched. Estimated transfer in December. After 2.5 years of patiently waiting I will finally cycle....can hardly believe it. DE cycle got cancelled. One of her tests came back positive.  Waiting for another donor. Donor picked!! (1/18/14)

  • Btw I wasn't upset at my doc., I was more upset at the nurses and the other medical staff. The doc has no idea who has insurance or apps oop. His job deals with ur health, not finances. My doc appears very sincere. I'm throwing all my eggs (literally) in the basket this cycle, I'm all in or bust
  • I hope this iui goes perfectly, I'm sorry for such a tough situation
  • Just some hopeful thoughts for you!

Ugh, the bills are the salt on the bitter pill that is infertility. Fingers crossed this is your cycle.
  • ((HUGS)) I know it's frustrating.

Insurance sucks, honestly. Why we even have it? I don't know why. It's more of a pain than anything. I am sorry things are so expensive. FX everything goes okay.
