Overwhelmed - Possible hospital time until twins come

I just had my weekly appointment this morning and our little ones are still small, A is measuring 3lb11oz and B 3lb10oz at 34w2d (3rd percentile).  They think the placentas are aging and next week I will be meeting with a different doctor at a better hospital with an amazing NICU.  When I left the doctor's this morning she said they would probably not let me go past 36 weeks, that the babies will grow better outside than in.  They called the new doctor who told me to be prepared after Tuesday to be admitted into the hospital until they deliver the babies.

I've already been battling an incompetent cervix since 26w, now on 8 weeks of bed rest and am feeling like I can't win, weekly shots of  progesterone and steroid shots at 28 weeks.  I'm so worried about the size of these two and how hard of a road they could end up having because they are so small. 

I'm overwhelmed, I don't know whether to cry or scream at my body for not cooperating. How have you ladies survived ending up on hospital bed rest? I know many of you have ended up there for much longer duration and I should be thankful I've made it at far as I have but all I keep thinking of is who's going to take care of the dog, watch my son, keep the house under control, and am I going to go crazy being in a hospital room.  Plus the worry about the twins being okay when they are born.

I cant speak to being in the hospital for an extended time but I can tell you about teeny babies. Mine were born at 33 weeks at 3.4lb and 4lbs. My 3lb girlie had no oxygen issues and needed no assistance to breathe. My 4lb boy was on oxygen for less than a week. They were home in 3 weeks exactly and all they really needed to work on was holding body temps and sucking. My smaller baby was like 4lbs only when we took her home!! They will be fine!!

Hugs - doing hospital time is hard when there is life going on at home. I don't envy that stress and am dreading returning to the hospital for another stay myself eventually.....

I am nowhere near as far as you, so I don't have advice, but you have done so well so far, and even though your twins are little, they have also had lots of opportunities to allow them to do really well on the outside as well. I hope they end up surprising and inspiring you with how well they do. Hugs

It is a scary situation for sure. I try to remind myself that I am doing the best thing for them and this too shall pass.

I am currently in the hospital again for liver issues after having been on 8 weeks of bed rest partially in the hospital.

Hang in there! I had my girls at 34w,4 and after a short nicu stay as feeders and growers we went home happy and healthy. My "little" booger was born 4lb 8oz and is about 2 lbs heavier than her sister now and you would never know they were preemies! Even though your pair may be tiny, you will be surprised at how resilient they are. Thought and prayers to you in these last few days/weeks.
