Potty Training

3yr old, day PT, asking for diapers!

My DD has been mostly PT during the day and naps for several months now. We have had accidents when she is too busy playing or when she refuses to use the potty when we ask her to "just try" because we know she hasn't gone in awhile. Within the last 2-3 weeks we have been noticing that she is peeing and telling us afterward, and acting like it's no big deal that she peed her pants. (So far we've been lucky about no poop!) This time frame is also when our sitter has started taking her to the pool, which she does every summer. The pool requires swim diapers for those not completely potty trained, so she wears them just in case. My DH went to pick her up from the sitter's house and he walked in the house, she walked right past him and peed her pants....ALL ON THE FLOOR! Then she proceeded to take her dress of and refuse to put it back on, and demanded a diaper! The sitter told him she had peed in her panties 10 times during the day and had gone through multiple outfits. The sitter even put her in sun dresses to keep it easy but she still wet her pants and would undress every time while demanding a diaper! I must also add that she didn't (wouldn't) take a nap! I need help! I try not to be negative when she has an accident but it's so difficult because she was doing so well for so long! She's always had night diapers and most of the time will wake dry, unless she has water later than normal.

Not trying to be harsh but at 3 there is no reason she shouldn't be fully trained. It sounds like she's doing this for either attention or power. If it was me, take the power away from her. Let her know she has to earn things- no swimming until she is accident free for a week. If its been 2 hours make her go. When/if she has accidents its her responsiblity to clean it up. Soon she'll grasp that its just easier to go on the potty.
