Does anybody have easy vegetable snack ideas that their LO likes? DD just wants fruit and crackers, and all vegetables get thrown on the floor.

Re: Vegetables as snacks

Can you share the recipe for the spinach muffin?

  • Only in pouches.  She will chew on some celery too, or eat little pieces cut up.  Finely sliced raw carrots are occasionally approved.  Otherwise, nothing.
  • DD fricking loves those mixed veggie steamers and well eat them hand over fist plain. I also steam coined carrots all the time. Apparently she ate the tops off broccoli at my moms house but I have yet to see it. ;-)

  • Sliced bell peppers are a huge hit here...and peas are a dinnertime fave, and as the fresh ones come from the garden im thinking ill use those at snacks too
  • ugh, so jealous that your children actually eat.

  • Oh I forgot about sweet potatoes! DS adores them too. Cut up and baked with a touch of oil and cinnamon. Yum! @jessie333 here is the link for the muffins https://laurassweetspot.com/2013/07/16/popeye-muffins/ I use all whole wheat flour and add wheat bran. I've tried switching the sugar for homemade apple sauce but I didn't like the change in flavour or consistency. DS likes them any way he can get them. Also, both frozen and fresh spinach work well.

DD loves broccoli, carrots, yellow peppers, sometimes likes zucchini, green beans, she'll eat things with onion. DD isn't very picky but i put spices [curry/paprika/pepper] on everything otherwise she's not very interested.

    Try shredded zucchini fritters?

ETA peas [I usually just buy a can and give her a handful a day until they're gone] and mashed cauliflower with curry powder is a hit here.

Sigh. I remember when my kid would he veggies and things with spices. Now I cannot even get him to eat mac and cheese. I thought all kids liked mac and cheese?!
M will eat Mac N Cheese with elbows but not other shapes.  Whatever.  It's not like that's good for her anyway.  If she just wants to eat raspberries, I'm sure she'll survive.

I think our children are kindred spirits.

  • DS loves kidney beans & black beans. Some times I just open a can, rinse and add Olive oil, oregano and basil! He loves them!! We don't do raw veggies yet except cucumber on occasion. His favorite at meals are steamed fresh broccoli and asparagus! he is more a fruit eater...,and as PP mention for veggie "snacks" we do pouches!! Oh and DS has never liked Mac & cheese or any pasta!! Lol
