We don't let him sleep with anything in the crib because he is all over the place in his sleep.  He will roll and roll all night.

  • I voted I have from the beginning. DS loves the A+A muslin blankets. We swaddled him with one from the beginning and then once we weaned him from the swaddle he still wanted to hold it and feel it to help him fall asleep.
  • Loading the player...
  • Haven't yet but it's crossed my mind. She sleeps so well when I bring her into our bed in the early morning and I think she loves the pillows and blankets- but I'm too nervous to try it just yet. Maybe during a nap when I can check in on her
  • We just started transitioning to the crib (last night was the 2nd night) and he is such a snuggle baby that I put a blanket in his arms. He holds into it like he does my chest so I think it helps him sleep. I tried a stuffed animal but that didn't work.
  • He's had a lovey in his crib for probably about 6 weeks now.
  • There's no plain old yes option. We started leaving a lovey in the crib a few weeks ago.

Whoops!! I don't know how I missed that.

  • Layla hugs a little bunny to go to sleep. She rolls to her side and brings it to her chest. It helps give her arms somewhere to be. When I sleep on my side I use a pillow or Tim to cuddle up to.

  • I used to have a glow worm thing in there before she could move around. Now nothing. She just likes to hold and rub her sleep sack and suck her thumb. When she's in the car seat I give her a silky lovey that I keep hoping she'll like.

  • She's got a mirror toy attached the the crib and a glow worm. She cuddles the worm at night, sleeps 7-7 like a rock. When she wakes up, she just kicks the mirror and giggles at the worm until she poops. No need for an alarm clock :)

Lol that is Layla's wakeup as well. Won't wake till she poops.

  • We gave her a lovey at 5 months, when we transitioned her out of the swaddle. Absolute life-saver all around. When she wakes up in the middle of the night she just talks to it till she falls back asleep, and if we are out and about I bring it to help calm her/keep her busy. Its like her first best friend, and I love seeing her all cuddled up with it

  • So maybe I'm really dumb, but what exactly is a lovey? Is it just their attachment object (blanket, animal, ect.) or is it a specific thing?

  • In our case a stuffed animal, but yes, any attachment object.
  • Wynn has been sleeping with a lovey for a while now. He loves it! He looks for it when I lay him down.
  • Yes. She now sleeps with some soft toys and a ball that rattles.

  • Henry has a small stuffed bunny as well that he loves to hug to fall asleep and I put a blanket that his great grandma crocheted for him (I figure it has holes in it so it is fine) on him, which he also likes to grab.
  • We have from the beginning. L has slept in a cradle next to the bed since she was born and she doesn't move in her sleep, so I have always covered her with a blanket and tucked it under her arms. She is also an A&A blanket lover and has to have one to feel to fall asleep. :)

  • She sleeps w a blanket during nap time now but not during the night. I am still nervous about it so I only let her have something with her when I am awake.
  • We still don't put anything in there with her, I thought the "rule" was to wait until they were a year old? Or did I just make that up lol. But reading this maybe I'll put a lovey or something in there with her. A blanket would get all kinds of caught up on her with the way she moves around.

No you're right. 1 year is the recommended guideline.

  • Nope. He turns everything in life into a toy. It would be too distracting. Also following the rules of no blankets until 1.

Additionally we decided super early on after getting out of the Rnp that we wanted as few things to transition away from and as few sleep crutches as possible. Doug doesn't have a mobile, pacifier (never took one) no sleep sheep, aquariums or sea horses (he has one but its never been near his crib) or noise makers. If I thought he'd sleep better with an attachment object he'd have one but he doesn't seem to need those extras now to sleep.

We also don't use any sleep props, which made it nice when we traveled. Also, I had a dream about you last night. It was so random.
