Any Experience with Maternity Spanx?

My wedding is in about 11 days, and while I'm not trying to hide or minimize my bump, I do want to smooth it out a little and add some support to my belly.  I absolutely love how I feel when I wear my workout belly band, and how much more supported my bump feels.  So, I would like an undergarment that could do the same without feeling too constricted.

So, does anyone have any experience with maternity Spanx or other brands?

I used Maternity spans this week. Definitely smoothed things out. Didn't squish me to death. Definitely felt support. Had them on for 5 hours and wasn't uncomfortable at all. I got mine at Destination Maternity.

Thank you thank you! For whatever reason, I just find it so much easier to trust y'all's opinions versus random reviews. Appreciate it!

I haven't used them yet (though you guys are making me want to try a pair), but my good friend wore them almost until the end of her pregnancy.  She liked them a lot - I think she did Spanx brand.

  • Not quite the same, but I wear these to work a lot -- I feel like they help to smooth things out a bit and they're comfortable all day.

  • Another voice to add to the mix - I wore them last month under a cocktail dress for a wedding, and felt supported enough that I was able to dance all night in them. Getting into them was a bit of some acrobatic work, to be honest, but they did exactly what I hoped -- supportive enough that I didn't feel I was showing off any "wobbly bits," but with the benefit of being completely discrete.

    And congrats on your wedding!!!

  • I love belevation! I wear the pettishorts under all my dresses. They smooth but don't squish. They also have boycott style if you don't want them down to your thighs. Belevation.com

  • I have the Spanx brand and Assets brand maternity shapers, purchased for a wedding I was in at 19wks. I made sure one had shorts as bottoms instead of briefs, to prevent any thigh rubbing/chaffing discomfort. I loved them, and have continued wearing them under dresses/skirts for extra support.

Everyone I have told about them (mostly non-preggos) laugh and say how weird it is...but it doesn't constrict the bump like regular shapers, it just smoothes it, and keeps the rest of you tucked in :)

Congrats on your wedding and embrace the maternity Spanx!
