Building my stash - wet bags

LO will be going to day care at about 12 weeks old. I will need to provide them a wet bag(s?). How many wet bags/sizes should we be getting for a couple of diaper bags, hanging for diaper laundry, etc? Nick is is having 25% off planet wise right now. I might be overdoing it, but I have 2 large hanging ones in the cart (to rotate while one is in the wash). 3 medium size ones (1 for ea diaper bag, and 1 in the wash). Dummy question of the day: I'm assuming I wash the wet bags that have held diapers each time I do a load of diaper laundry? Thanks!!!

Re: Building my stash - wet bags

  • We use the large PW wet bags for daycare and love them.  They've worked really well and the handle is really convenient.  I actually don't wash my wet bags regularly, maybe every few months?  I just let them hang to air dry.  We haven't had any issues with smell or funk.

I have less wet bags than a lot of people on the board but we make do with 1 pail liner for the laundry room and 2 medium wet bags (1 in the diaper bag and 1 in the bin with clean diapers). If I only have pee diapers in there I don't put mine through the washer every time. They wipe out easily enough. They do take quite a while to dry though (if you line dry) and I'm still on maternity leave so if you are at daycare I can definitely see the need for an extra medium or two for that reason.

This is why I stopped washing mine.  A couple times, I even had a little bit of water that got caught in the corner so after drying for a day or two it was still wet.

  • I have 2 PW Pail Liners that I rotate for everyday use. I wash every other day and find this enough.

I have 2 Pail Liners (1 RaR and 1 Ubbi) that I rotate between for daycare. LO only goes about 2 days/week and they require a handsfree pail to be used, hence pail liners instead of wet bags.

I have been making due with 1 Blueberry wet bag for the diaper bag, but really needed more so I just ordered 2 more.

I do wash mine every wash, though I have been leaving them out of the initial pre-wash and throwing them into the main wash. I line dry mine and the PW ones take the longest to dry, which is usually the next day, so there has never been an issue of it not being ready to use.

  • I have 6 large PW that I rotate at daycare, but I have two in diapers.

I wash mine after each use. I never know what's happened to them during the day and with runny newborn poop it will most likely get on the inside.

  • I'd have 3 large in rotation.

I have 5 wetbags. 2 rotate in her room, 2 rotate to the nanny, and 1 extra.

I just throw them in. Half the time my bummis end up inside out anyway, and my PWs almost always separate and the liner comes out. Haven't had any issues.

  • I wash our wet bag any time a dirty diaper has been inside it. (We only have one since baby stays home during the day.) If I were sending wet bags to day care I'd probably have three to four, so you were sending a clean one each day, depending on how often you wash diapers.

I have always dried our pail liners and wet bag (Planet Wise) in the dryer, and after two years they are all still in great shape with no damage or delamination.

You have to wash them inside out, otherwise they fill up with water

Haha, didn't think about that! I just always did it because of the poop.
