Team Green turned Pink! Elizabeth's Birth Story (MrsRahl)

This story is finally brought to you by the magic of the mamaroo :) lol...

So the story begins last Wednesday when I thought I may have lost my mucus plug, thought a tad about it, then went to bed.  I woke up the next morning at 4:3- am with a bit of bleeding and light contractions.  I called the doctor, and he pretty much just told me to stay home and watch to see if things progress.  I was reluctant, but sent my husband to work at 5:30 am.  He has limited time off and we didn't want to waste it on a false start, which is what I thought it was and also this was a week early for the due date.  The contractions got worse, so I called the doc again and told me to come to the hospital to check my dilation and on the blood, and ultimately sent me home.  Still only a centimeter dialated. To make a long story short, contractions were getting stronger and longer and more frequent. By 5:30 that evening, my contractions were 4-5 minutes apart and they were getting VERY painful.  Only breathing through them.  Got to the hospital and got sent home again because I wasn't dilating.  I was SO upset and in so much pain. They told me to come back again once they were 2 minutes apart. I could not even believe it because I was thinking by that point I would be having the baby at home if I waited that long!  By the time we got the car home, we basically had to turn back around again. When I called to tell them I was coming back, they told me they couldn't guarantee they would admit me (which I figured now being sent home 3 times this week already) and I threatened that if I didn't get pain meds when I got there I was going to find someone who would lol.  Got back to the hospital, was admitted and FINALLY dilating to 3 cm, and my natural childbirth intentions were quickly turned to an epidural. Mad props to the all natural women!! You guys are seriously troopers!!  So once the epi kicked in, we were in business.  I dilated pretty quickly, they broke my water to discover there was a lot of meconium in the water.  I was told I couldn't hold my baby because they'd have to take her back right away to suction her before she took her first breaths.   I was very disappointed but I knew it was best for her.  When it was time to start pushing, we only had to push through about 6 contractions. When she was crowning, the nurse said, "I can see hair!"  A huge surprise as no babies in either family we know of had hair.  The doctor pulled her out and I quickly asked if it was a boy or girl.  When he told me we had a baby girl I literally couldn't believe it! Elizabeth Doris (Doris after my late grandmother) arrived weighing 8lb 6 oz. and 21 inches long. My DH's whole family is just swarming with boys. I was just so so elated!  DH didn't get to cut the cord, and it didn't bother him but for some reason it really bummed me out. After about 20 minutes of them stitching me up and taking care of Elizabeth, I finally got to hold my baby girl.  When DH brought his mother in, we didn't tell her it was a girl until she came into the room.  When I looked at her I said, "Say hello to your granddaughter!" She let out a scream and burst into tears. Elizabeth is her first and long awaited granddaughter.  My mom got the reaction on camera and it was so priceless!  And now what everyone really wants to see, some pictures :)
