C-sections

CS fear for the 2nd time around

So I'm really nervous to have another CS because of the unexpected (not the actual surgery part). My first CS was an emergency one after 30 hours of labor. I had a horrible recovery and it took me forever to feel "right." I would have another CS but a little anxious because of the unknown. How does it feel being pregnant after having a c section before, any differently? I'm worried that after another c section my body won't feel as good as it does now... Example, permanent itchiness or something!! Can anyone relate?!

Re: CS fear for the 2nd time around

  • I'm pregnant now and so far the CS isn't impacting it.  However, I have no intention of voluntarily having another.  I don't want to go through surgery again and I cannot imagine trying to care for a 2-year-old and a new born while recovering from major surgery.  I found a new practice and hospital that is pro VBAC.  Then the military decided to transfer my husband so I'll be looking for a new practice in our new city.

Have you looked into VBAC as an option for you?

  • This will be my 3rd c/s. My first daughter was an emergency. It was the worst recovery and very traumatic for me. When I got pregnant with our second daughter 9 months later.. I was a wreck. It was a surprise and I was so anxious the entire time to go through that again. My dr and I decided I would try for a VBAC. Closer to my delivery date they did several ultrasounds to check and see how big the baby was. My dr finally told me that VBAC wasn't an option anymore b/c the baby was too big. I cried and cried. He promised me that it wouldn't be like the first one and my recovery time would much easier. He was right. I was very nervous when the time came but they gave me some good relaxing meds and it was over in no time! Such a more pleasant experience. So with our 3rd and LAST little girl.. I will have to have another c/s. I'm not as worried about it and have a lot of faith in my dr. You will do great!! Good luck!!!
