Tea while Breastfeeding

Can anyone tell me if there any unsafe teas to drink while Breastfeeding

Re: Tea while Breastfeeding

  • Well most non-herbal teas (black, white, green) have caffeine and you want to drink that sparingly unless you get decaf tea. Most people limit caffeinated beverages to 1 or 2 a day but all babies are different so you have to see how they react and adjust accordingly.

As far as herbal teas, I would think flavored teas like from the grocery store would be fine.

If you're talking medicinal teas, I would check with a doctor or LC first.

  • Some herbs may have a negative impact on your milk supply.

  • Don't drink mint tea - it will negatively affect supply. Ditto on the caffeinated teas to what PP said. What tea(s) do you want to drink? That's an easier question to answer.
