Tofu

Any tofu eaters out there?  I have had tofu before and liked it but for some reason have never made it part of my daily diet.  However, I wanted to start serving it from time to time since it can be a good source of nutrition for LO and us. So I have a bunch of questions:

-Do you make yours or buy it premade?
-If you make it, do you have any good recipes?
-If you buy it, what brands?
-What do you typically serve it with an/or what sauces/spices do you use?
-How does LO like it?
-Does LO ever eat it cold?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Tofu

  • I love tofu!

I get the extra firm, and dry fry it in a cast iron skillet (cut your tofu into triangles -Bradley loves triangles- put it in the bottom of your pan and gently press down to release the water, this will be what the tofu is fried in, as it gets more cooked it gets firmer, so you can press harder, but at the beginning be gentle) I serve it with salad or spiral noodles and canned tomatoes.

I also love vegan lasagna (the tofu is a ricotta cheese substitute), I will see if I can find the recipe

And sometimes I just use the extra firm, right out of the package on a bagel with American cheese melted on top. It's so yummy and tastes like a egg and cheese bagel.

  • I love tofu. I never make it for myself because my husband doesn't love it (I almost always have it at asian restaurants).

I cook tofu for LO quite a bit. She loves it and will eat it cooked or straight out of the package. When I stir-fry it for her I use low sodium teriyaki sauce or something like that and its like baby chinese food.
