STMs: transverse laying baby: when did they turn ??

Hi! I'm a FTM. Little junior is 22 weeks now and is laying transverse- with head to my right side and feet to the left. I have mild placenta previa which I've read may influence this position. Also read this position is considered normal at this point with they hope baby turns by 30 weeks.

STMs: when did your transverse baby turn?? He seems to be low transverse as I feel all kicks several inches below my belly button. I think it's causing more back pain since the weight isn't more balanced. I hope he gets squirmy and goes head down soon!

  • DD was transverse until about 32-33 weeks.  Well, at least that was the appointment where she finally went head down.  At 28 weeks the little stinker was still sideways.

  • I'm pretty sure both my boys were all over the place up until 30ish weeks. Then they flipped head down and stayed head down the rest of the pregnancy.

  • DS flipped over a number of times, but finally stayed head down around 35 weeks. It's still really early for them to "settle" into a position.

You might consider seeing a Webster certified chiropractor for some adjustments. Chiropractors can be very helpful in encouraging babies to move into an ideal position for birth...and they can help you have a more comfy pregnancy in general.

  • Babies really can turn at any point. My son was in that position until 35 weeks. He then Turned head down and in position. Then a couple days before my due date he returned to a frank breech position.

  • At that age, they can move around quite a bit.  During my u/s yesterday, the baby went from head down to transverse multiple times.  Still plenty of time to go head down for good (usually 30-something weeks I think).

  • It's really not a big deal yet. Our little girl is breeched and has been that way since 15 weeks. The OB said it's not a big deal and that they'll probably turn on their own.

  • My first stayed transverse even with a verison (not something I recommend). My 2nd was head down by 32 weeks.

  • I wouldn't worry one bit at that point. Baby will continue to flip and flop and do acrobatics in there for a while. DS turned head down and stayed that way around 33 or so.

  • Before 34-35 weeks, babies have a lot of room to move about so there is no concern about their positioning. I wouldn't worry about it at all at this point. Usually around 30-34 weeks they start getting in position and then it become harder after 35 weeks for them to move about. It still happens though so I really wouldn't give it much thought at 22 weeks.
