TTC after 35

Just scheduled our IVF class!

We are scheduled for our IVF class on June 26th.  Starting all bloodwork between now and then.  Expected to start the birth control pills on 7/22.  Excited, a little nervous, but extremely hopeful.

Doing acupuncture, taking prenatals with 800mc DHA, 200mg CoQ10 twice a day.  Wanting to restart yoga.  Any other advice or suggestions?

me: 38, DOR and one ovary :(  DH 38, everything's working with him!  Married 10/19/13, TTC for about 3 months, no children for either of us.

I have no advice, but we'll be in this together. We go to our class tomorrow. And then we start blood work over again. (CD 3 blood work was wonky, indicating a cyst, and the rest don't actually expire until mid-month. And since I'd like insurance to pay for the few diagnostics they do cover, we're waiting.)
  • Oh, best of luck to you!  Keep in touch.  It is nice to have someone going through it with me.  I will have to do my bloods on day 3 (day 2 actually, with sono).

I have no idea what insurance pays anymore.  I just come home to stacks of EOBs every day.  It's like I am not sure I even had half of these tests lol

  • Good luck @Fredifer1115‌ and @CaraH‌. I'm actually probably on my last day of stims for my 1st IVF. I should trigger tonight and egg retrieval on Thursday. I'm doing PGD testing so I prob won't have a transfer until August if there is anything to transfer. It's scary, exciting, and stressful. I've had freak out moments where I've wanted to give up but I keep on going. The best advise I have is take one step at a time and don't forget to breathe. It's not as bad as it seems. Good luck!!

  • I have no experience, but do have well wishes!  Exciting!

@Pintobean39‌ - My RE has recommended frozen transfer with genetic testing, too. He was really impressed by a study out of Europe and tells me he thinks that's all they will be doing in the next five to ten years. It also addresses some of the risk concerns I had, apparently. Fingers crossed its a good experience for you!
  • @Pintobean39‌ good luck on ER tomorrow!!!

  • Hi ladies,
If you don't mind me asking on this thread, what are your top tips/things to know when considering IVF? My gut tells me it is time to make a switch to a new RE and move on to IVF. Any words of advice welcome.
    Best of luck to @Fredifer1115, @CaraH, @Pintobean39!!!

@Fredifer115 - So, IVF class is done!  Both husband and I think its really weird to have such a public meeting for something so private, though.  But, there were no surprises.  Now its just a matter of waiting for CD1, and we can do all our testing.  Based on my last conversation with our RE and my fear of IVF, we're going to have genetic testing done and a frozen transfer.  But, IVF retrieval could be in August, I guess!
  • @CaraH‌ we had the option to have a private class at one location but it doesn't work with our schedules. I can imagine it could get awkward. I think you and I will be pretty much on the same course around the same time. I'm supposedly starting the pill on 7/22 for 10 days, depending on my 3 day bloods. @Lesliem0901‌ truthfully, our RE strongly suggested the IVF path after considering an aggressive trial of injectible fertility drugs and IUI. He literally changed his mind mid conversation. He did say, however, if during prep I mature less than three eggs in the cycle then we will do IUI and hold off on IVF until I have enough eggs. He's the expert, so I'm trusting him to steer us right.

@Fredifer1115‌ - there were at least twenty couples in the room, maybe more. And there is no private option. They hold this meeting, once a month, at the Civics Center with a sign on the door that says "Welcome Center for Reproductive Medicine." Everyone who wants info on IVF through the clinic must attend, and only established patients can attend. So, you know everyone in the room is seeing an RE and considering a IVF. Thank goodness we aren't hugely private people!
  • Oh, man.  This should be interesting lol.  I already said we are going to have to finance our kid, and in the even that it acts up we have the option of having him/her repossessed!  Can't wait to see what our class has in store for us.

I just got the information packet in the mail...consents and all that good stuff.  Going to wait until hubby gets home to read through it.  I imagine it is very riveting.
