How early to apply?

Fingers crossed, DH should be able to retire early from the military this time next year. I've been looking at job listings for him, just to get a sense of what is out there, and I came across the absolute perfect job for him. He has a slightly odd skill set and he had everything they were looking for. It is so frustrating that he is a year out, because jobs in the area we want are scarce for him, and this one is perfect.

Sorry for the long story...now the question - how early would you start sending out your resume?

And one more, I saw somewhere that it is now acceptable to leave off your home address on your resume. Since the military will give us one final move, relo isn't a concern for us, and I don't want to be rejected because we aren't in the area. It made sense, just wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on not including your address.

Thanks everyone, that is pretty much what I was thinking. @CK2MD thanks. He is putting in for retirement under TERA, so hopefully he gets approved and hopefully it isn't as painful as some other discharges. However, everything military-related lately has been painful, so I'm not overly optimistic:)
