Stroller question

Will I regret only getting a jogging stroller? Here's the thing: I absolutely love the stroller I registered for. The infant car seat clicks into it. We have trails by our house, I plan to take LO on lots of walks, and the big tires will be perfect for the beach and boardwalk where we spend most of our summers. I am tall, and the handles are higher than other strollers, which is amazing. I understand it is big and bulky and I am willing to deal with it. I'm just like...... should I register for a "Regular" stroller too? I just do not want one. At all.

BTDT mamas, any insight?? Thanks!

I think you are fine with just one stroller.  Before DS turned a year, I didn't even use our stroller that much.  I much preferred to carry him in the Moby or Ergo.  It was a lot easier for me.  I barely used our lightweight "snap-n-go" stroller.

Unless you live in a major metropolitan area where you are carrying the stroller up steps to your apartment, up and down subway steps or on the bus, I don't think having a stroller that is a little bulkier but will last you longer and will meet the needs for your trail walks.

Do you realize how ridiculous this sounds? Why would you ask for something you do not want? If you find the jogging stroller isn't working for you, then go get yourself a 'regular' stroller. But I think you'll be fine with the jogging stroller.

  • @RayRay007 The point of the post was to see if any moms had any reasons why I should get a regular stroller in addition to the jogging stroller. Like, if there are certain places you can't take a jogging stroller or something.
  • I doesn't look much more cumbersome than a 'regular' travel system stroller like a Graco Quattro, which you can take anywhere. You might want an umbrella stroller if you're travelling though.

  • I have a jogging type stroller that i keep in the garage and use for walks etc. But I also keep an inexpensive umbrella stroller (1st years) in my car, earlier i had a snap n go frame when DD was still in the infant seat. Both were cheap and you can get those used at a consignment store or on craigslist really cheap.
  • @DaisyBlinks good point! That's the type of response I was looking for- good reasons to have an additional stroller. I appreciate it.
  • It sounds like you'll get a lot of use out of a jogging stroller, so keep it and see if you feel you need something smaller later. If you do feel like you need something smaller for certain things you can always buy a lower priced one.

For what it's worth I live downtown in a big city and see plenty of jogger style strollers every day. People make it work and it's fine.

  • @theresat858 I hear great things about the City Mini!
  • I personally would probably also get a nice umbrella ish stroller. We have maclaren but I have also used the Chicco ones. They have a little basket, can lean back and have a little sunshade. It's really handy to also have a nice compact, lightweight stroller to just toss in the car and go, for traveling etc.

I had the Uppa Baby Vista with DS (and bought the attachment to use with his car seat when he was an infant). We got that for the same reasons - like to walk/hike and wanted to do well in a variety of settings, DH is 6'5 and the adjusting handles were nice for him.  Loved it and can't wait to use it again.

We did end-up getting an Uppa Baby Umbrella stroller (under $100) on ebay because the one above was a PIA to tote around everywhere, especially for quick trips into the mall, etc.  You can always get one later if you feel the one you have is inconvenient at times.

  • We only got the bob revolution stroller... we live in a place where any other stroller wouldn't even be doable since we are in the mountains. However I agree with the previous post... just do what you have now and if you find its a hassle or you need a smaller stroller then pick one up later on.
I don't see the point of registering for something you may not need... rather have the money be spent on things you need.

With DS I had the Graco stroller frame that you put the infant seat on.  Absolutely loved that!  Then we got the Chicco Cortina which was fine as well.  It was in the back of my parked car when it got rear-ended so we replaced it because of all the glass that was covering it.  Since I was pg then, we replaced it with the Phil & Ted's Navigator with the double seat....I had loved it since I saw it, and wanted the double seat.  I had never tried to fold it though, and honestly I hate it.  I can hardly fold it by myself, DH always ends up helping me.  We ended up not using the double seat as our baby died at 25 weeks, and I used it a few more times with DS.  He was about 3 and 30 lbs.  I hated using it on streets or any unlevel surface.  Any time he would move side to side I had to fight to keep the thing rolling straight.  So now we are pg again, and we recently rented a stroller which was a Citi Mini.  Loved loved loved it.  I can't say enough great things about it.  I haven't used it with a car seat obviously yet, but for my 4 year old it was fabulous.  It folds easily is narrow when lying down and is still 3 wheels - which I like purely because it looks more modern than a 4 wheel.  I never had the problem with it trying to go to the side with DS in it like I did with the Phil & Teds.  Now I'm trying to justify selling the Phil & Ted's to buy a Citi Mini.  We also have an umbrella stroller that stays in DH's car and it's come in very handy when we go out shopping and it takes longer than we planned.
