Hello, I'm a name board lurker and I could use your honest opinions on a middle name for our son. We were down to two names, Alexander and Miles. I've loved Alexander for years, but I've always been aware that it’s extremely popular, which has made me hesitant to use it. Recently my husband suggested Miles and it’s now become the front runner.
For the middle name, I've wanted to use my Dad’s name, James, no matter what we chose for a first. DH has been in complete agreement. His own Dad wasn't a big part of his life and DH really likes and respects my Dad. So here’s my question: does Miles James sound too weird? I've said it in my head too many times, I don’t know what to think anymore. DH suggested using Miles Alexander, if I wasn't OK with the way Miles James sounded. That does sound way better to me, but should I sacrifice sentimentality for how a name sounds? Or should I focus on the name sound, because he's going to have it for the rest of his life?
I’m really stuck on this one, and could use some opinions. BTW, our last name is two syllables and starts with an S, if that matters.
Thank you!
Re: Opinions on middle name for Miles
I vote Miles James over Alexander James. I'm not in love with the flow, but that wouldn't matter if I wanted to honor my dad. My favorite would be Alexander James.
