DD1 is a hardcore thumb sucker, and it's starting to shift her teeth. I
took her for her first dental appointment this week - she did great! -
but the dentist said we had to break the thumb sucking habit right
away. He said there are things we can do down the road to make sure her
permanent teeth come in correctly, but that our job now is to break the
habit.
Anyone have any experience, advice, tips, tricks, or just
words of encouragement? I think we're going to start with just gently
reminding her not to do it throughout the day - i.e. when she's watching
tv or riding in the car - and then move on to the sucking while
sleeping part. The dentist recommended putting something bad tasting on
her thumb, and/or band aids, so I guess we will give both of those
things a try.
I'm going to XP on both our August boards, just in case anyone isn't checking both places. TIA everyone!
