Horse and Animal lovers please enter.

I am very sorry, I have been super busy lately helping my husband start up a new business since he lost his job in April so I haven't been contributing like I would like, So I hope you all do not mind me asking for your input. I had 2 horses that lived right down the road at my moms with her two horses. We split up chores and did a lot together however last year I was recovering from a C-section and couldn't help with hay. I also haven't been spending a lot of extra time riding or grooming. My mom isn't in the best health herself, and has been having a hard time taking care of chores. It hasn't been fair to the 4 beautiful horses we owned. So a friend of my moms had to recently put down a horse and his two girls were devastated. So he wanted to look at them and possibly give them a new home. Well long story short Sunday morning the were re-located and I have mix emotions about it. I know for my family I will have more time for them, My mom wont have to hurt herself and money wise we will be better off. I just feel like my heart has been broke in half. It is very difficult. I just hope I did the right thing.

I'm so sorry. As a huge animal lover, I can only imagine the pain and sadness that you must be feeling. I'm sending big internet HUGS!

Since it is a family friend, will you be able to go visit your horses from time to time?

Sorry you're hurting right now. From the way you described the situation it sounds like you really did the best thing for the horses. It sounds like they were all relocated together which is great for them, plus they went to a family with two girls that probably have more time to spend with them. I'm sure those girls are thrilled, especially after losing their first horse. I've never had a horse but I know there is a lot of work involved and they are expensive to maintain. I think you did the best thing for the horses and yourself right now. I second PP, maybe you can go visit them sometimes?

I'm sorry. I'm a huge animal lover. I'm sure your family friend will let you still see them. If you feel up for it later too, my aunt runs a horse rescue and always needs volunteers to help with horses and to also give some lessons to kids (some special needs, some as therapy and some just at risk who need something positive in their lives). It's out of the Lake George area (I think you said you were up in that part). I can always give your her info if you still want to do some things with horses.

You did the right thing. I know it hurts. I have had horses all my life and was leasing one in PA when we moved to NC. The plan was to buy him with in 6 months. But we realized I really don't have the time for him right now. I was heartbroken because I love him so much but it really just isn't the right time. I still visit and ride him when we go up but really wish he was here with me. I do take lessons here to get in some horsey time could you try something like that?

Yes they went to a friend of my mom's and he said I could visit once in awhile. I just don't want to be a pest, but I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to visit and I am grateful for that. I have also considered taking some lessons and it is something I might consider soon. Unfortunately today the hits just keep on coming my dog had a vet appointment today so I could get his shots updated for camping season. I also wanted to get this growth checked out on his nose. I had another vet look at it but I didn't trust his answer.

So now on the 25th of this month I have to take my dog into get this growth taken off and biopsy'd to see if it is cancer......the hits just keep on coming.

I'm so sorry you are going through all of this! Did they give you an antibiotic for him? My dog had something similar on his nose and it ended up being an infected spider bite

nbatchen . I wish, and at this point I would love it to be a spider bite. I don't know if you can see the bump on the pic I posted. but it has gotten huge over the past few months. I am just going to try and stay positive until we do the surgery. Thank you for your concern. I know animals are not are kids but they are still family and it is hard and appreciate you all for your concern.
