Tinnitus

Has anyone else developed Tinnitus(ringing in the ear) during pregnancy? I'm 36 weeks and it started about 4 weeks ago.
I went to my ear specialist, he said it was due to pregnancy and the extra blood flow and should go away after baby is born.
Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this?
Thank you!

I'm not trying to scare you, as the two could be completely unrelated, but I had this with my last pregnancy, and eventually developed Bell's Palsy a few days before I delivered.  I was told the ear ringing can be an early indicator.

Again, not to freak you out, just sharing my experience.  Everything went back to normal about 6w after delivery.

Hopefully everything is resolved after your delivery!

  • I agree with pp.  I know two people that the same thing happened to and had bells palsy.  Not that that's what's going on with you :)

I have always had a bit of ear ringing/strange noises in my ears but went to an ENT and they couldn't find anything (years ago), however with this pregnancy, I've had a few days off & on where I hear crackling noises in my ear when I yawn, etc. It comes & goes. I asked my high risk doctor about it and he said its nothing but now this post is making me a little more concerned with the Bells Palsy. I will ask my OB about it this week and report back on what they say. Keep us updated if you do go to an ENT!

  • Went to an ENT, he said my ears were perfectly fine and that it was related to pregnancy.
  • I've had ringing in my right ear for about a month now - keep forgetting to ask the midwife about it but I'm pretty sure it's to do with pregnancy.   hoping it doesn't lead to Bell's Palsy! Hadn't heard of that before!

  • I've treated patients with Bell's palsy. If it should develop find ways to de-stress, go see a physical therapist and also acupuncture works wonders with Bell's. Just try not to over analyze or stress it will add to the situation.
  • I went to my midwife yesterday, and she said it is due to pregnancy. I just hope it goes away after.
