Happy Monday mommas!
How are you/how was the weekend?
Tell me something about yourself...anything at all you'd like to share.
What are your plans for returning to work in the future? (If you plan to return) What actions are you taking to keep your resume attractive to future employers?
Re: SAHM check in
About me: I love the beach. We're going to Hawaii in July and I cannot wait!
I'll probably go to work when the kiddos are in school full time. In the mean time I want to finish up classes to get my AA degree. I'm only about 7 classes away from finishing.
About me: I'm a huge crafter (anything except sewing) & love to create things for less. (Read: suck it PBK, I'll make my own). I also love to garden despite the protest by my allergies. And I love cooking, but not baking. I like to skim a few recipes for ideas then create my own version of things.
Working in the future is a debate right now. I wouldn't return to a traditional ft job until all kids are in school full time. What I would love is to get a home based business up by that time.
I plan to take some photography classes & want to see if that is an option. I could also see myself using my crafty side as income, renting booth spaces at fairs & maybe starting a repurposed furniture website. Who knows.
In the meantime I plan to finish my associates & may go for my bachelors in marketing & business management.
Something you don't know about me is that I am not very crafty but sometimes I try to be. I made some body butter for me and LO and some coffee-sugar scrub for just me yesterday and I was surprised that it turned out pretty nice.
I am going back into the classroom in mid-late August. I am excited about it but also nervous! A year seemed like a long time to SAH in the beginning and now it is almost over and I will have to be away from my LO! I am trying to savor these last months as much as I can.
Something about me is that I'm obsessed with Disney. A lot of you may have already known that.
As for working, I really have no plans to go back to work. Since DH and I are buying the restaurant he works at, I'm sure I'll be working there from time to time, but other than that I don't plan on going back.
We spent many hours at Lowe's, picking up faucets, ceiling fans, etc. It's a pain but I'm excited to see how it turns out. Now I need to get started packing!
Like @Katies7, I love to bake. My favorite is probably making cupcakes. I actually had a cake pop business for a little while before baby #2 came. But now it's just too difficult. I prefer making cupcakes anyway, to be honest. I never make anything out of a box… I also live for sweets so these two go hand in hand.
Part of me would love to return to work. But I don't plan to do so for another two years. We don't have any family nearby, so I would have to hire full-time help or daycare. So I want to wait till they're both in school.
I was doing some freelance TV writing on the side, but my contact for that no longer needs me. If I can find something like that I would continue to do it.
When do you move into your new place?
Something about me...I also love anything artsy. Baking, drawing, sewing, all crafts. I actually have my bachelor degree in interior design, but I went in to teaching instead. Now I just see it as a hobby.
I go back to work in September. I can technically take four years off of work (one year paid) and still have my position, but we can not afford it. I would love to stay home with DS longer. Instead, he is off to daycare at the end of the summer and I am back in the classroom. I will now be the computer teacher though (which is a much easier gig).
I know exactly what you mean. The small stuff adds up so fast. We've probably spent over a grand in light fixtures, bulbs, outlets, etc. We will, hopefully, move in this coming weekend. Fingers crossed. And you?
Oh good! We will start moving this weekend as well, but the big stuff we
are moving next Monday.
we had a fun weekend. Local fair, park, time at home and outlet mall too (found a 3 year old sized winter jacket, Columbia, reg $180 for $20. Score!).
I plan on going back to work when LO is in school.
Something random about me - I've lived and worked with DH in 4 continents. We both enjoy traveling
Also, reading all the posts about pinterest and baking make me want to create something and bake!
Past 2 weeks I've gone to the local library song and story time. Planning on joining a baby class too. Still want to meet other local SAHM. Found this article about mums and friendships.

About me: I'm a couch potato in my (little) spare time these days. I wish I could get into crafting and reading again but for now, TV is the BEST EVER. But I'm trying to get better.
I probably will be PT forever. DH is a deputy sheriff and has unpredictable hours and lots of call outs for the special teams he is on. With no family nearby it's hard to work a consistent schedule and I don't want to pay day care when DH is home 3 days a week a lot anyway.
Rock and a hard place over here.
@BelhurstBride if it's not too personal and you don't mind sharing why do you doubt you will teach again?
