Just wondering, anyone here give their baby water in between feedings during the warmer weather? I remember my doctor saying something about giving water in between feeding when it's hot so baby doesn't get dehydrated. Thanks
My pediatrician said up to an ounce or two per day was fine. But my LO is on soy so it has more to do with her not getting constipated. I would deffinetly call the pediatrician and ask. :-)
An ounce or two per day is fine. If your LO is spending a lot of time outside and sweating a lot then yes she needs more water to keep her from getting dehydrated, but if your LO is spending a lot of time outside in the heat I'd tell you to bring LO in!
i had a pedi actually tell me at 8 days old I could give her water (i didn't because that seems crazy to me and have since changed doctors) but I've always heard 6 months, i guess they get what the need from breast milk or formula
I've offered my LO a bottle with water in it a few times so far because of being out in the heat and her being sweaty. With 2 other children wanting to play, swim etc., I can't exactly hide from the heat all summer. Every time I've offered, she's only drank about an ounce or so before not wanting any more. I wouldn't feel comfortable with her drinking a whole bunch though.
