Rudeness RE: team blue

Why are people so disappointed when they learn I'm having twin boys?

I just saw my neighbor and she asked what I was having and I said two boys! And she goes "oooohhh" in a disappointed way then "congratulations"

Wtf?! Are boys chopped liver?

I get that I already have a DS and people WANT me to have a girl, but I'm not, so get over it!! It really, really aggravates me. God willing, I'd like to have 1 or 2 more DC and I think I'll keep the genders to myself next time. Geez!!

  • I have a 4 year old son and 6 1/2 month old twin boys. I LOVE having all boys. Even if our next children are all boys I would be extatic! At this point I don't even know if I would know what to do with a girl, haha!! Congratulations on team all blue!

People are just rude. I never understood why someone else even family would care about the sex of my children. I'm currently watching my oldest teach his little brothers about his ninja turtles and transformers I wouldn't have it any other way!

We had a boy/girl twins and everyone acts like we hit the jackpot...after 6 years of trying, DH and I just wanted babies...we did not care if it was girls, boys etc. People are just weird. Congrats of your team blue!

  • We have an older boy and twin boys as well. I love having boys! I do get an occasional "you gonna keep trying for a girl?" comments but usually people aren't too douchey about it. Honestly, people are so weird w their comments that the boy-related ones are just par for the course at this point.

  • We will have all girls and people are the same way. People that have all girls love it and people that don't can't stand the thought of it! Bottom line is you love your kids the way they are and can't imagine it any different. Why is it weird we feel that way too even though they are all the same gender?

  • Congrats first off! We have twin boys and I've gotten lots of those comments too. People are rude. That's all. But you are fortunate, and you will have a blast with them!

  • Congrats on your boys! I remember meeting twin boys when I was a teenager. Woweeee what babes! I was wanting twin boys just because everyone was hopin we'd have girls (we already have a son) and I think it's nice to have ALL boys. When we found out we were having girls I was happy still but I hated everyone's reaction like we'd hit the jackpot. So I asked them 'what if we'd had boys?'!! They were stumped for words. Took me awhile to be as excited as the rest and I am happy with my girls now but peoples reactions can really disappoint you. Don't let them and enjoy your boys! Boys rock!

I've had some negative reactions that pissed me off too. But they're balanced by the reactions of other fathers who think having all boys is the best case scenario. I don't know why people can't keep their mouths shut about sex preferences.
  • I'm having 2 boys as well and hear it all the time.  I've even heard "better luck next time." Yup, people really have no filter.  We are blessed and feel that our family will be complete when our sons arrive this early Fall.  healthy and Happy is our goal!  Celebrate that and vent all you want here. It really does help.

  • I hear these comments all the time. It gets old really fast. I have 9yr old and 2.5 yr old sons and 34 weeks with fraternal twin boys. Oh not to mention our dog is a male too. I'm completely outnumbered and love it!! My boys take care of me.
  • Sorry. :( My twin boys were my first so I don't think the reactions I got were to the same extent (with you already having a boy) but it definitely seems like most people think B/G twins are "perfect" and that's what they want you to have and get disappointed otherwise.

  • I'm having b/ g twins after three boys. Everyone kept saying hope you have your girl. All I want are two healthy babies. So far so good.
  • I have twin boys that are 6 months and I don't usually get rude comments about them being boys, more comments about them being trouble! Or me having my hands full with boys. When I was pregnant and would tell ppl we were having 2 boys ppl would say "oh I bet your husband I excited about that!" When I told him that, he would say I'm not any more excited then if we were to have two girls. I thought it would be fun to have one of each, but now that I have them I'm so glad that they are both boys! They're so much fun! Sometimes you just have to smile and walk away when ppl say rude things like that!

  • I got reactions ranging from "oh, you'll have to try again" to "good, girls are divas" to "have you considered leaving them intact" to "oh, I'll pray for you"
I love my two boys and that's the most important thing. :)

  • Congratulations!

Unfortunately people are rude no matter what. I have b/g twins and people tend to act like I hit the lottery but then start planning my family for me because of it. "You're done now, right?" "Perfect! Now you don't have to have anymore!"

    Thanks for that....

  • We have an almost two year son and are expecting fraternal twin boys.  I do agree that it seems like having boys is less desirable that having girls right now. I'm a little surprised that I don't get more negative comments about it, but when people ask, I try to tell them in a positive way.  Like I will say that I'm adding to my boy collection or DS lucked out and is getting two little brothers.

The most disappointed comment we got was from my MIL who said "oh no!", and "are they sure?" and "can it change?"  Um, pretty sure we got two clear penis pictures, so no.

As soon as I had the girls, people were like "OH you got it all done at once", and "how nice to be done." I think that it is so odd people want to plan for us.

  • No matter what if you have all of one sex, people think they need to open their yappers about it. You can politely (or not, whatever) tell them to shove their disappointment straight up their a$$es.
I have twin girls, and you'd think that I had robbed my husband of something. When they were younger, people would say all the time, "Gonna try for that boy?" I usually answered with, "I hate boys."  or something smart assy like that.

  • I have twin girls and everyone said oh Dh must be upset he didn't get his little boy. No he loves his girls. They are daddy's girls. Now I'm pg again and everyone was praying this one was a boy. I got a lot of I'll pray for you. Like having another girl would be terrible. I am having a boy this time and now when we tell people that its oh thank god it's a boy this time. Your Dh must be excited. He would have been excited regardless.
