Nighttime Trainer recs for daytime trained 3-year-old?

Looking for nighttime recs for my 3-year-old daytime potty trained DS. I was looking into Super Undies but they run around $30 each. This nighttime process could last another month or another year, so I don't want to invest too much money. He is outgrowing his one size pocket diapers.

  • We've used both the super undies night time with extra hemp stuffed and flip trainers with hemp prefolds and ds1 (3 1/2 yo) still would have leaks. Not every night but at least a couple times a week. We are using disposables for now so following for any other suggestions but he leaks out of those from time to time too. He's 40# so he's outgrown all the OS diapers and fitteds that I know of. Sorry I'm not much help.

so superundies night time were a no-go for you guys?  that makes me feel a little better about how spending the cash
Yeah I'd save the money. Or get them on discount/previously owned. We use them for naps now since he is dry only about 50% of the time but he doesn't supersoak them like he does overnight so we don't have leaks for nap.

  • We have Alva big baby pockets and a Flip Trainers for DD2 overnight (turns 4 next month). I stuff with hemp and bamboo inserts in the pockets. I layer two of the Flip inserts overnight. I figure if she starts to wake up dry, I can use one only. My oldest went from wetting every night to being completely dry overnight. She had just turned 6 (potty trained at 2.5).

  • Because if this thread my poor almost three year old has to sleep in a prefold tonight instead of a pull up.

  • Thanks everyone! DS is mosty dry after nap so I'm hopeful nighttime dryness will follow suite! We are currently using the last of DS's disposable diapers for nighttime. I refuse to buy Pull Ups at $0.50 each. I'll also look into the Flips too. It's interesting when I talked to my mom about being potty trained at night. Her school of though is that you almost just snap your fingers (within a month of being day trained) and the LO is dry at night. Yea, that's not reality...Not quite that easy for anyone that I know!

  • FYI I get seventh gen pull-ups on amazon and pay less than half of that. Also my kid has been dry at naps for months and still fills it up overnight. Not to be a wet blanket.

  • Oh man, I can commiserate.  All of a sudden, after dd turned 3, she just stopped wetting at night.  I was getting so frustrated!  I ended up finding used Super Undies Overnights at my local cd shop.  I also alternated with Blueberry Coveralls (very generously sized, I feel) and bamboo prefolds.  Good Luck!
