What kind of bug spray are you using?

The mosquitos and ticks are getting really bad around me and I need to use something on Morgan.  I was thinking of Avon's Skin So Soft but it isn't good for the ticks.  So I found another one on their website, but not sure if it's good for toddlers.

Any suggestions/comments/recommendations for me?

  • Our daycare (due to Michigan daycare rules) requires that it have Deet in it, so we ended up with Off Family.  We just make sure that she gets a bath at night to wash everything (that, sunscreen, a nice layer of dirt) off.  I'm not sure how much I love it conceptually, but it keeps the mosquitos and ticks off.

I just got some Ava Anderson bug spray. Their stuff is all non-toxic. We haven't used it yet, but i have really liked all the other Ava products I've tried and I feel good about the ingredients.
  • Recall from 10ish years ago, the (adult) dr said only Deet is repellant for ticks. Did you ask your pedi?

We live in a rural area where they don't spray & we have woods. I always use tree tea oil mixed with water. Usually half to half. Its very effective & child & pet safe. I do reapply about every hour. Bonus is it doesn't stink or make you sticky & the next day your skin is super soft. Plus if you do get a bug bite I use straight TTO & it immediately takes away the itch & heals fast.
