Natural Birth

Postpartum bleeding

How long did you bleed after your natural delivery? It will be 7 weeks tomorrow for me and I still have light bleeding, but all my stitched have healed.

Re: Postpartum bleeding

  • I bleed until 6ish weeks. It took my tear a long time to heal ~9 weeks so I did have some mild spotting till about 10 weeks.
  • My bleeding stopped right around 7 weeks.

Ugh. I had this same question and was hoping you'd all have a different (quicker) response. :). I am going to try a liner today.

  • With S. my bleeding stopped about 2 weeks pp. It was more or less the same for the other two.

However, my bleeding is really, really, really heavy during that time. I can't believe some people say they only need the mesh undies with enormous pads while in the hospital/for a couple days. That wouldn't cut it for me.

With all 3 of my births I bled no longer than 8-10 days (I never tore). Then I never had a period until at least 8 months later.
  • I bled heavily for about 4 weeks, spotted for another 4, and then started my period at week 8 even though I was exclusively breastfeeding. I'm bracing myself for the same thing this time around, but it was a bummer.
