A little treasure was just uncovered in our bedroom

As I've mentioned on here before, we are completely gutting and remodeling our farm house. Well my DH is ripping out our bedroom and just found a pay stub from 1901 from the B&O railroad. The wage was $2.83 an hour. I was hoping we would come across some "buried treasure." Just thought this was neat and wanted to share.

  • @discobelle‌ I know. It's so sad. And I'm sure they busted their hump for such little money!
  • Cool!

  • That's really cool! I also didn't realize that B&O railroad existed outside of monopoly! Lol. I'm Canadian, so forgive me if this is generally common knowledge! :-p

I forgive you! ;) it's now CSX. So it's the "old name"
  • @Notchotchke‌ that's awesome! Isn't it great to find things like that?!
  • Oh how awesome to discover a little bit of history in your home. So I must ask, any stained glass windows in your house? We have 3 small square side windows up high in our dining room. I have always loved stained glass, and am becoming obsessed with the thought of putting some pieces in those windows. @penguingrrl‌ I know you said you are getting the stained glass window panels repaired in your new Victorian home. Did you get them back? Pictures? I've been looking online for stained glass panels. I've looked at E-Bay, Overstook, Etsy, Amazon... any tips?

@rachie1019, we don't have our house yet (we're renting and haven't moved in yet) but I'll share pictures once we're in and the windows are back! I know they're out for repair, but don't know much beyond that.

Ok yeah I didn't think you were moved in yet. Any funky colors on the outside of your home? Victorians are so beautiful, and the perfect excuse to have a purple or turquoise house.

Nope. The exterior is really pretty, but not a unique color!

Love that. We are building a small scrapbook of before and after pictures of the whole home so we thought we'd stick it in there, but I love the idea of framing it! Thanks! :)
  • @Luckey4‌ what end of the rail are you guys? just asking because we're on the Baltimore side. We have the B&O Museum here, I bet they would love to see something like that too!

@aliebno‌ I'm in WV. The track actually ran through our field. I didn't know they had a museum, that's pretty awesome. Maybe DH, DD and myself could make a trip up there one day (we love to travel) and donate it if they would want it.

    Edit: forgot to tag
  • That is so cool. Especially that it ran through your field. That was some really good money back then.

  • That's awesome!! Keep it & frame it & hang it in the room you found it in. Good conversational piece.
  • So neat! That's why I love old houses.
