Cloth Diapering

PW wetbags ?

I ordered some medium PW wetbags, but I didn't realize they don't have a handle. We have always hung our wetbags from the changing table (dresser) drawer knobs. What do you do if there's no handle? Is there a way to attach a handle? I'm extremely unskilled.

  • I did this same thing! I will be watching the thread :)

  • I exchanged mine for the large.  = (

    I have the Bummis Mediums for a smaller bag.  They come with handles.

    I have 2 of these. I usually just sit it in the bin that I move around from room to room (with diapers, cream, lotion and wipes in it). When it starts getting full, I just run it down to the laundry room to empty it. I'm sure that you could probably sew a handle on it, but I'm not that talented with sewing and I never had a bag with a handle so I don't feel like I'm missing anything.

    I got 2 larges also. They just seem huge! I have only ever used the bummis mediums before and always liked them. I got suckered in by PW's cute prints. Why doesn't bummis have better prints?!?!

  • I need the large to fit 1.5-2 days worth of diapers and cloth wipes for my little. I also have a medium and a small but they are really not big enough for a days worth of prefolds. Looks huge, but it's really just the right size.

    Also, does PW not have a medium wet/dry bag with a handle? They cost a little more but that might be a solution if you can exchange.

  • I've also been wondering about the best way to attach/reattach handles to their wetbags.  I have 2 of the large wetbags and they just have the little snap loop handle on one edge (like the medium wet/dry bag) and they are starting to fray/tear off.  I much prefer the 2 big handles on the large hanging wet/dry bag.  Not sure if I should try to undo a seam, or cut into a section of the outer fabric so that I can sew on handles to only the outer fabric or sew through all the layers and risk leaking/wicking at handle (probably wouldn't be an issue while hanging, but might be for traveling with the bag when it might not be upright).

    If I put his overnight diaper or pockets in the Bummis medium, I can't fit a whole days worth of diapers in there.

    The larges usually last a full day with pockets.

  • You could probably use a seam ripper to undo the seam in the cotton outer and sew a handle in that way, but you would see the stitches so it wouldn't be as seamless and pretty anymore. Sewing through both layers would be possible, but then you've got the holes from the sewing machine needle posing a wick/leak hazard. I dunno. I thought about trying to run a ribbon or cord through the zipper pull, but it is tiny and I'm afraid it would break off easily. Personally, I like my size large wet bag, but the cotton outer has faded A LOT over a year and a half. For a similar size to the PW medium, my Blueberries wet bag has a handle and hasn't faded at all since it's PUL instead of cotton.

  • Put a key chain ring through the zipper pull hole and then hang it on a nail or hook??  Or use it for swimsuits or other wet items.

    @abby8279‌ That's brilliant!

    Oh, but doesn't it still bring the issue of the zipper being so tiny and probably breaking?

    The zippers are tiny but I am sure that you could find a ring small enough.  But I am not sure about the stress it would put on the zipper.  Maybe with it being only a medium size bag it wouldn't get that heavy?
  • Oh, I had a thought! What if you use something like a curtain ring to hold it up? You know the kind that has a loop with a clip at one end? Like this: https://www.target.com/p/threshold-drapery-clip-rings-set-brushed-nickel/-/A-14101351?ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001&AFID=google_pla_df&LNM=14101351&CPNG=Home+Decor&kpid=14101351&LID=25pgs&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=14101351&gclid=CNy50Yat5b4CFUkV7AodZzcAug

    I'm just not sure how much stress it might put on the fabric over time, but if you notice it starting to wear, you could change where you clip it, I think.
