Stroller debate....so lost in all the choices!! Bugaboo, stokke, phil and teds, quinny, uppababy

Hi! So we are trying to decide on a stroller that we can use from infant to 4 years. I do not want to have to purchase another stroller, so it needs to be well rounded. This is our first, so we are completely lost in all the options. I really want something durable so it can be used agin for future babies. Carycot is not a must. We live in the city and will be using the stroller for walks, festivals, and it will be going in and out of the car a lot. We also may use it to travel by plane since both our families live far away. We go to the beach during the warmer months a good bit and my need something that works well wil sand ne gravel. I am in love with the stokke crusi, but it is so expensive. Does anyone have this stroller and was it worth the cost? A lot of friends have the uppababy vista and love it, but none have used it long term (all have just recently had babies). We are also looking at the bugaboo cameleon, phil and teds promenade and smart plus, quinny buzz, joovy qool. I like the quinny buzz, but have not seen as much on it as the bugaboo or uppa. Does anyone have any of these strollers? If so do you like them? Why or why not? Hi versatile are they? How easy to fold and unfold are they? How long did you use it? And any other helpful info you may have would be great too! Also, if there is another stroller you swear by, please let me know!

  • Like you, I wanted a nice/sleak stroller that I could use for the long run.  I have the Bugaboo Buffalo and love it.  It's all terrain and folds up in one piece!  This was huge for me....I didn't want to have to remove the seat or bassinet every time I got it in and out of the car (I believe this is the only high end stroller that can do this; Cameleon does not nor does the Uppa Baby Vista).  The basket is also huge which is a plus.  Although I can hang the diaper bag on the stroller (up to 30 lbs) and that works great.  I purchased the stroller from Magic Beans and some accessories from Pish Posh Baby and was very satisfied with both vendors.  Let me know if you have any specific questions!

The Cameleon is a 2 piece fold but the Vista folds in 1 piece.  If you have the budget, the Buffalo is really awesome.  I would skip the Quinny (push isn't good), the Promenade (it's a big stroller), and the Qool (because the canopy height is too low to fit most kids over 2).  Bugaboo and Uppababy make great products in general.  I think a great combination would be the Buffalo and then a nice lightweight umbrella like the Uppababy G-Luxe.  If you travel a lot, it's easier to travel with something smaller generally and then have your fulltime stroller be something that's bigger with more features.  If you walk a lot, you'll want a stroller that's a great push too.

  • I have the Vista which I got for 20% on Black Friday from pishposhbaby.com (actually my mom got it but anyway). I absolutely love it. We mostly use the bassinet which is so easy to attach and take off. It handles great and has a huge basket which was a big plus for me.
  • I have a travel system. Graco 3 in 1 click connect. LOVE it! You have 10 different modes for the stroller includes fully reclined bassinet, parent facing or outside facing, fairly light ( can pick it up with one hand into trunk) collapses very easily, big under carriage. Car seat snaps in, converts into toddler seat. I don't see myself buying another stroller at all! The only thing is it's not very good on non paved roads but I pretty much never go on those so it's not a biggie to me.
  • If you are considering a second LO less than 3 years apart, I would get one that converts to a double. (At times, i wish I would have gotten the city select.)

We live in a city and have the UBV.  I love this stroller but have a few thoughts on it for what you want:
    • it is great over bricks/cobblestones/snow
    • as pp mentioned, it can fold with the seat attached, just not with the bassinet.  When folded we store it on a stroller hook on the back of a door, so although it is big... it isn't so big that you can't do anything with it.
    • love the huge basket for running errands
    • the push is fantastic
    • It is pretty heavy and wide
    • it would not be great for plane travel unless you check it due to the size/weight.
      • that said- for still less than the bugaboos you can get the UBV plus another lightweight travel stroller.  We got the UBV and the mountain buggy nano which is amazing for flights and fits in the overhead but can till hold a car seat.

  • I have the babyjogger city mini and i LOVE it!! Hand brake, lightweight (for a full size stroller) and folds with one hand; smooth ride and roomy
  • I have two Stokke Xplorys and love them. They can fold as one piece. They are completely customizable as far as handle height, seat height, seat incline, seat direction. I've been a bit of a stroller junkie and have also owned a Bugaboo Frog and a Quinny Buzz. The Stokke has been my absolute favorite.
