7 months old and BFing questions

Hi ladies! DS is 7 months old and we have had a great BFing relationship (after about the first 2 weeks).

I think I'm just being paranoid, but I worry so much about if he's getting enough. His pedi was very happy with everything at the 6 month check up. He sleeps through the night and is a happy baby.

From 5:30am to 7 pm he nurses about every 3 hrs. Sometimes it can be a little more. And he eats solids twice a day (about one pouch/jar, or half an avocado or banana-- sometimes at dinner he will eat more than one pouch though.)

I guess whats concerning me is that I used to be able to pump 4 ounces (combined) before bed and 4 ounces first thing in the morning from the side he doesn't nurse from. And up until recently he only nursed from what side at a time. But the last maybe 2 weeks or so I've been nursing him from both sides at every feeding. So I'm not able to get that morning pump anymore. And last night I only got one ounce combined before I went to bed.

Does this sound normal at 7 months? Would you recommend going in to do a weighed feeding just to see?

My doctor says solids should only be 25% of his diet at this point-- so I really want to make sure he's getting enough milk.

Any advice is appreciated! I really want to get to one year breastfeeding so I'm trying to be pro active and keep from having to supplement.

sounds fine to me if he's gaining weight well. i experienced a supply dip around 7 months, about a month or so after we started DS on solids (i work f/t and was pumping at work)-- i think that's a pretty normal occurrence, even if they don't seem to be actually ingesting very much of their food. so long as you are nursing your LO on demand, i wouldn't worry about it.

If he sleeps through the night, he is getting enough food. Trust me! No reason to worry. I am a STM and I hardly pay attention anymore to how long the baby eats. Sometimes he eats both sides, sometimes just one. Sometimes he eats longer, sometimes shorter. Sometimes 5 times a day, sometimes 8. No reason so stress

And the amount you pump does not tell you how much your baby is getting out. Babies are much more efficient than the pump.

Yup I am going through the same thing - LO has been eating some solids for the past month (he's 6.5 months) and he recently decided he was going to start drinking less milk. As long as he's gaining, I think you're fine.
