TTC after 35

Anyone ever watch "Scrubs?"

I know it's old, but there are a few episodes that deal with the nurse Carla (36 yrs old) and her husband Turk's difficulties getting pregnant. Sometimes, it's hysterical. And other times, it hits close to home (and sometimes both).

I'm watching the one where Carla has to try and get Turk to agree to get an SA. It's pretty accurate about how sensitive and wussy the men are about this stuff.

Anyhow, if you haven't checked them out, it might be good for a few laughs... they're on Netflix Instant.

Re: Anyone ever watch "Scrubs?"

  • I used to watch Scrubs, but I don't remember much about the Carla/Turk getting pregnant arc (probably because I wasn't in that stage of my life back then). I may have to re-watch it - such a funny show. Thanks!

Loved Scrubs! About the time it ended, DH and I went on a binge and watched all 8 seasons. I too remember that storyline but as ewenner said, I was at the same point in TTC that I am now. I agree it might be fun to rewatch it now, if only to find something funny out of this whole AMA TTC nonsense.
King of Queens also had a similar story going on towards the end of that show, but I don't remember it being all that funny... and I hated how it ultimately ended.
Don't really watch it regularly but now it seems like Mike and Molly is headed in a similar direction... hope they handle it well!

  • I LOVE that show. I work in medicine. It does a good job of hitting the real highs and lows of serious topics, while keeping it light. ex - Turk and Carla TTC.

  • @mattandlora: Me too-- as a former ICU/ED nurse, I love that they actually show how much the doctors rely on nurses. I also like how they-- funnily-- show the kind of pressure (emotional, ethical, etc) medical professionals are when dealing with unrealistic expectations of medicine, good people with bad outcomes, bad people who still require compassionate care, etc...
