I was wondering if anyone had a recipe for make your own powder detergent? Is it good for cloth diapers/regular clothes? I have a he top loader wash machine
We used the following recipe:
1 cup Borax
1 cup Washing Soda
1/2 c. OxiClean
We just used that ratio and filled the container until the borax and washing soda boxes were empty.
It works well for both cloth diapers and regular laundry. We use 1-2 TBS for each load.
ETA: we also have a top load HE machine
We use this. I use some with fels napthla for clothes, just because I need to use it up.
My diaper detergent is the same as above for regular laundry I add a grated bar of zote soap. (Like fels naphtha). My last batch of laundry soap I added a cup of tide powder, (I had some left over from a visitor) just to give a little extra kick,DH has gotten extra dirty in the garden lately.
We used basically the same recipe, but added epsom salts because we have really hard water. We made a huge batch using this recipe because it didn't leave leftover ingredients.
5-gallon bucket, or other large, sealable container
(3) Boxes Arm & Hammer Washing Soda (55 oz each)
(2) Boxes 20 Mule Team Borax (76 oz each)
(1) Large tub OxiClean Free OR OxiClean Baby (96 oz)
