TTC after 35

Would you wait or go for it?

I am getting married Sept 6th. However—I am fertile Aug 31st-Sept 5th, so I miss the chances of a possible honeymoon conception by 1 day. Grrr.

Would you TTC a few days before the wedding, or would you wait until the Sept 28th fertile window?
***Also: We are going on our honeymoon Sept 8th-13th, and flying to Riveria Maya. I was told that flying can sometimes cause miscarriages. Not really sure if that is actually true or not, but have heard it before.

WWYD? TIA!

I would go for it.  I'm pretty sure it's perfectly safe to fly.
Thank you! I have had like...three people tell me miscarriages happen in early pregnancy when flying, so I wanted to be sure. I appreciate your response.

Thinking of all the honeymoon babies conceived out there, I'm sure a large number of those took a plane to come home. I would go for it if you don't mind being on the 2ww for your honeymoon.
  • Go for it! Perfectly safe to fly. Best of luck to you.

  • Go for it & best of luck
  • I would not worry about flying. It is a personal decision if you want to conceive before your wedding. that is up to you.

  • I disagree with hooligans4-- I pretty much ovulate every cycle on CD 15 (every once in a while it's CD 14 or CD 17) but if I BD all that week, I'm always in my fertile window. I'm like a machine. Still doesn't help me get pregnant, but it's textbook regular.

And I'd go for it. No reason not to.

  • Awesome. Thank you, ladies! I will go for it, then! Generally-- my ovulation is always on CD14 or CD15, but I guess we will cross that bridge when August gets here.

    Thanks, again! :)

Glad you are going for it, like PPs said, it will make the 2WW wait fly by.  Good Luck!

  • I am sure flying does not cause miscarriages. But Just to play devil's advocate: if you are not a "drink till it's pink" type you may enjoy your honeymoon more without worrying if you might be expecting. If you abstain from alcohol (and things like zip lining which may be a bad idea if pregnant) regardless then I suppose there is no reason to wait.

With my 2nd child, I did "drink til it's pink". Had a girl's night out the night before testing. :)
So yeah...not too worried about that. I will just TTC and see what happens. Thanks!
  • GO FOR IT and best of luck to you!!!!

@danieleandwayne - I kinda disagree. I have always been regular and always O'd the same just like you.  However, for this new protocol I am doing with this round of IVF I had to detect my O with OPKs in order to know when to start a certain med.  I thought sure no problem I'm always consistent with when it comes.  Well this time it came one full week late.  I was dumbfound since I was always regular.  I know I O'd as well because my RE stopped me from just using OPKs when it got so late and did b/w every day instead to monitor the hormone levels.  So, there are instance when things can change even for the faithfully regular gal.

    IUIs: 2 in 2012 ... Both BFN
IVF #1: 10/16/13 ... BFP, however it was not viable and ended in an early loss at 7weeks.

IVF #2: Feb '14 ... Cancelled. Positive beta at baseline appt, became very early loss.
    IVF #2: Apr '
14 ... Retrieval Only. 2 embryos made it to day 3 freeze & will be batched with IVF #3 for PGD testing.
    IVF #3: June '14
    ...
Retrieval Only. 4 embryos growing, all arrested before day 5. Two from April thawed, but also arrested.
Currently benched while determining how to proceed.

  • Of course things can change. With my last cycle (first since my dd was born), I didn't O until CD 30.

But to say there's no way to predict when you O three months out is not accurate, either. Every woman's body is different. That's why even though I'm super regular almost every cycle, I still use OPKs and temping.

  • Definitley go for it!
  • Go for it and good luck! I was hoping for perfect timing for our anniversary trip but AF showed up almost 5 days late making my timing off and I think I ended up Oing during our travel back and after we'd been up for 36 hours, there was no way we were going to BD that day. We'll see if our work before and after helps us out. I hope timing works out perfect for you!

    **child mentioned**
I actually conceived my DD by only BDing 2 days before ovulation and the day after ovulation. I hope this is it for you!
    :)
  • @lgsdesigner, I hope I'm as lucky!
