Questions about blood clotting and Lovenox

***scary birth and miscarriages mentioned***

Hi ladies, I'm lurking from TTCAL and thought maybe some of you could help shed some light on my situation. Just to elaborate on my siggy: DS had a blood clot in his placenta that broke off during labor and gave his entire placenta a stroke. It was the scariest day of my life. We had no other issues that led us to believe something was wrong - he was basically a miracle. My doctor had no concerns about blood clotting disorders after his birth. We started TTC in January, BFP right away, then mc at 6 1/2 weeks. Ran tests for blood clotting disorders but all came back negative. I've had two more miscarriages since then, so 3 in a row now. I'm waiting to meet with an RE and I'm just trying to gather as much information as I can so I'm prepared at our consultation. Could they have missed something? Are there other reasons for sticky blood? Does anyone have a similar experience? My OB said they would probably start me on Femara, then Lovenox as a precaution. Thank you so much for reading! I appreciate any advice.

Re: Questions about blood clotting and Lovenox

  • No advise, all my issues turned up in genetic testing. Hope you find out what is going on.

  • Thank you, @anotherdreamer . That is helpful! She did say that maybe there could be other clotting disorders that they just aren't able to test for yet. If there is something, I hope they find it or at least put me on something anyway! Baby aspirin didn't help with the last one. I'm so sorry for your losses but congrats on your sweet miracles!

  • @karabear4409 , thank you, that definitely makes sense. It's hard to educate yourself on all of this stuff. I appreciate your advice and I will make sure my RE tests and tests and retests!

  • Hello there. I had an unplanned, normal pregnancy the first time. Then when we tried for the second, we had 3 losses within a year. They were all pretty early, like yours, at 4, 5, and 6 weeks. We were referred to the RE after the third, and he did the clotting disorder testing, and checked my thyroid. My thyroid was normal, but I ended up positive for APS. So, right away I started the baby aspirin and lovenox injections. The aspirin I started at 4 weeks, and the Lovenox at 6, right when we got the positive APS result. So, I think in your case, since you have the history of the clot and the losses, that the aspirin and Lovenox can only help!
